Mass Effect: Andromeda "Official Gameplay"

Until this lavish gameplay trailer was unveiled at this year's Game Awards, Andromeda was something we could only be theoretically excited about. Sure, the previous releases suggested that it would be a real-deal Mass Effect after all – mostly due to the immediately-intriguing characters – but this five minute banquet of almost non-stop gameplay made it crystalize. The teeming planetary outpost and six-wheeled Nomad buggy both suggest a world more open and alive than perhaps any Mass Effect yet, and the way that our protagonist the Pathfinder lays waste to everything she encounters brings to mind the series' characteristic open-ended combat. BioWare earned huge acclaim by making Dragon Age 3 vaster than its predecessors. It looks like they're trying to do the same with Mass Effect, and that's enough to get us excited.
