Dead Cells is an action packed sci-fi game about taking control of, and using the bodies of others to progress through the world. You are, essentially, a bundle of special cells that can infect other people. When you control them, you progress as them, until they die. When they do, you roll back to square one – kinda.
Each death will give you a new piece of the world. Areas are randomly assembled too, using a template created by the game's designers – so no two runs will be alike. Together, this means you won't have to replay the same sections, dying over and over. Instead you can go somewhere new, continue exploring and skip the frustration. Over time, you'll also unlock skills that follow you beyond death, but, for the most part, if you mess up, you'll be on your own. It's basically a mash-up of the Rogue-like and Metroidvania subgenres, a Roguevania.
Dead Cells is out now on Steam Early Access for $16.99.
