A Meaningful Campaign (or Campaigns, Plural)

Obviously, the focus of these games has always been the multiplayer (or even the single-player version of the multiplayer where you battled bots). That said, DICE has proven on countless occasions their competence at crafting exciting, engaging shooter campaigns. Battlefront 2 offers another rich opportunity to blend some of that Star Wars magic into the Battlefield formula. The leaked teaser gives us a glimpse at a narrative campaign focused on the Imperial side, but hopefully it’s just one dimension of a story that sprawls across both sides of the conflict.

We don't necessarily need a sweeping and majestic tale that will reshape the Star Wars universe forever, just a solid, meaty experience that players can dip their toes into and enjoy while getting their sea legs for the inevitable foray into multiplayer.

DICE proved with Battlefield 1 that there are great alternatives to a linear 10 hour campaign by tackling stories as shorter, more focused vignettes, and the Star Wars universe offers some great opportunities to use this technique. There's potential for six focused one hour narratives that tackle each of the three primary eras from both the dark and light side, while also introducing the most important maps and characters to prepare players for other modes.
