2. Stardew Valley

This pixelated pastoral paradise brought back the glory days of Harvest Moon and recreational farming. A horde of gamers, once obsessed with headshots and the horrors of war, suddenly started worrying about their pumpkins and whether or not their goat was warm enough. The soothing routine of the days and seasons, mixed with a collection based reward system means "a quick go before dinner" turns into a seven hour session in which you still haven’t managed to grow a fucking gold star green bean. There’s also plenty of secrets to uncover in the mines, sewers and hidden corners of the map and a village full of eccentrics to pass the time with. Which reminds us, we still haven’t found the mayor’s shorts…
