29. Pokémon Sun and Moon
After Pokémon Go reintroduced the first generation of pocket monsters and the joy of catching them, Pokémon Sun and Moon gave us a new generation who would inevitably be compared. Cleverly it played with those expectations by twisting some of the originals into creatures both freakish and weirdly adorable, adapted to the Hawaiian-inspired setting of Alola. The structure of the game was also warped, the clichés of the series becoming a set of cultural traditions called "the Island Challenge". The old was made new again, allowing the truly new to sneak in alongside it.
