Two distinct combat styles underpin this all-boss-fights hack 'n' slasher from The Game Bakers, and the pace and finesse with which it bounces from top-down arena clashes to ferocious melees (and back) makes its supremely intense four hours fly by. Your actions are limited to slashing, shooting, parrying and dodging, but that never stopped Genesis and SNES games of similar ilk – indeed, it’s fans of old school, simple-yet-layered control systems who’ll get the most joy out of this. Later bosses really do ensure the title lives up to its billing, but even in the moments where you end up chaining more swears than in-game actions, the admiration for its kitsch visuals and thumping soundtrack never wavers.
