25. FIFA 17
A new FIFA often means minor changes and cosmetic alterations. FIFA 17 wasn't one of those updates. It brought a new engine and a "Physical Play Overhaul" to make collisions weightier, as well as adding story mode The Journey – a narrative element so well written is was shorlisted for a British Writer's Guild Award. Turning FIFA into something akin to Mass Effect with cutscenes and a wheel of dialogue choices, The Journey let us control a rookie as he became a star player (even when we screwed up on the pitch). It was like directing a sports movie, giving single-player matches enough of a backstory that they seemed to matter as much as the rivalries developed in multiplayer.
