7. 'Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter'
Before Advanced Warfighter the Ghost Recon games struggled to claim their own identity in the crowded field of Tom Clancy shoot-em-ups. Advanced Warfighter went tactical, putting you in charge of a squad of four "ghosts", using satellite vision to control them but also giving commands via Cross Com in first-person mode. Its near-future setting went further than high-powered satellites, encompassing gear like futuristic guns and UAVs. While Black was a forerunner of the modern-military shooter, Advanced Warfighter predicted where they would go after that – toward the harder sci-fi settings of Call of Duty games like Ghosts and Advanced Warfare.
