As the tale of the Grinch tells us, no one is immune to all the damn holiday cheer and your favorite games are no exception. Just how are some of gaming's biggest blockbusters celebrating the Holiday spirit? Well, there's a surprising amount of deadly weaponry for a start.

GTA Online
Just because you’re committing felonies, doesn’t mean you can’t do it in a festive way. The Grand Theft Auto universe got its Christmas update today with Festive Surprise 2016. Expect to see Los Santos filled with Santas, festive sweaters and that expression of the true meaning of Christmas: the Firework Launcher. And when it all gets too much you can just slip into a bold pinstripe smoking jacket and pajamas.

Minecraft's new add-on – the Festive Mash-Up Pack 2016 – brings reindeer and Santa plus Krampus, Mistletoe, Bigfoot and more. Of course there are also plenty of snowy blocks to play on as well as log chalets, frozen lakes and new caves. Find it on Pocket and Windows 10 Edition for $3.99 now.

The shooter that just keeps shooting is doing its own take on Christmas with The Dawning. The biggest change is the return of the Sparrow Racing League and new Strike Scoring but Christmas is about the gifts, and there’s plenty of loots to go around. The Icebreaker sniper rifle is back and there are new void and solar versions of Arc machine gun Thunderlord. Also, snowman-themed Dreg heads. It's free for anyone with the latest expansion, Rise Of Iron.

Dead Rising 4
The Dead Rising 4: Stocking Stuffer Holiday Pack is just as nuanced and low profile as the game… so not at all. Smash up zombies dressed as gingerbread men and elves, wrap your death bat in fairy lights and do some damage with the Candy Pain hammer while riding around on reindeer bike. It’s $4.99 or free for owners of the Dead Rising 4 season pass and the Dead Rising 4 Deluxe Edition.

The team shooter is ready to sleigh with the Winter Wonderland event. There’s a new brawl mode, Mei’s Snowball Offensive, and Winter Loot Boxes full of skins, highlight intros, emotes, victory poses, sprays, player icons, and voice lines that are more festive than an elf drowning in a vat of eggnog.

Heroes of the Storm
Greatfather Winter is visiting Heroes of the Storm too, bringing a special snowflake mount, skins like the Gingerdread for Nazeebo. There's also the chance to earn a Special Snowflake portrait and a Festive Goblin Mount by completing 25 games before the end of Winter Veil on January 4.
