Atari Makes a Cameo in new 'Blade Runner 2049' Trailer

Classic gaming logo returns to sequel, despite the "Blade Runner Curse"

Warner Bros.

The new Blade Runner 2049 trailer is amazing for about a million reasons, but one of them that gamers will spot is the giant glowing Atari logo in the first 15 seconds or so.

Atari also featured in logo form in the original 1982 Blade Runner, as did other big companies at the time like Bell, Coca-Cola, Marlboro and Pan Am. Following the movie's release there was talk of the "Blade Runner Curse" which afflicted some of the companies, including Atari.

According to Bloomberg News back in 2004 Atari was in talks with Blade Runner director Ridley Scott to create a short film to publicise its game Driver. That short film never happened, although a Driver feature film did make it through a number of studios before it was abandoned.

Blade Runner 2049 will be in theaters October 6.
