"There's nothing better than singing with Emmylou Harris," says Elvis Costello, who brings the country-rock chanteuse out for an eleven-date tour. In addition to reprising two duets from Costello's country-tinged 2004 album, The Delivery Man, Harris will also sing lead on some of her own tunes and duet with Costello on covers and chestnuts from his catalog. "Emmy suggested 'Indoor Fireworks,' from King of America," says Costello. "That's a song you dream about singing with her. The band already has a repertoire of 100 songs --before we add another twenty-five or so with Emmylou." To help pull off the country material, Costello recruited guitar virtuoso Larry Campbell, formerly of Bob Dylan's band. With a second guitarist, Costello notes that it will also be the rare occasion that he can play the original guitar part to "Alison" -- but he says it's not a big deal: "We've obviously performed the song without that part more often than not, and nobody has asked for their money back yet." Tickets: $20-$68.50 Special guest: Emmylou Harris Dates: 7/17: Atlanta, Chastain Park Amphitheatre (Posted Jun 16, 2005)
