"There's a certain kind of pop singer that, when she performs, needs to look, like, a hundred percent beautiful all the time," says The Office star Mindy Kaling. "What I like about Gwen Stefani and Rihanna is that sometimes they wear stuff and you're like, if I'm just looking at this, what you're wearing, 99 or 100 percent of people would be like, 'That is hideous.' But because they have so much attitude and so much confidence, it just becomes the most amazing asymmetrical pink fauxhawk, or whatever it is, and that's what people want to wear."
In this chat filmed at the Rolling Stone studio earlier this week, Kaling also talks about how The Office is adjusting to the departure of Steve Carell and how she wrote about wanting to become friends with Beyoncé in her new book, Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me?
