An array of hugely talented artists, from Erykah Badu to TV on the Radio to Tory Y Moi, stormed Brooklyn's Commodore Barry Park this weekend for the eighth annual AfroPunk Festival. Rolling Stone caught up with a few enthusiastic attendees who boasted striking personal styles, curious to see how their adventurous fashion tastes corresponded to their musical preferences.

Some traveled to AfroPunk from a few blocks away, some from oceans away (the Bahamas, Brazil). Though they credited their style influences to musicians from Michael Jackson to Janelle Monáe (who also performed during the weekend), one debate reached consensus: everyone seemed excited to watch Badu.
