Raise, and Then Battle, Monsters Via Twitter with Twimon

Free game app remixes Twitter with Pokemon

The long-lost love child of Twitter and Pokémon, new iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad app Twimon also incorporates elements of Foursquare, video games and social networking, letting you grow and battle monsters with a tweet.

A portable smartphone game that’s also a functioning Twitter client for checking updates, searching and sending messages, the software program provides players with monster eggs to raise which can be nurtured via tap or tweet. After hatching, creatures can change form and gain in experience, levels and abilities by being sent out to conquer real-world outposts and venues, thanks to GPS powered location-based features. Updates on your progress can also be sent to followers, with collectible achievements available for achieving preset victories and goals.

Adults and kids are liable to be intrigued by the title’s surprising depth, which is belied by its cute, distinctly Japanese styling. Although free to play, new monster eggs and power-ups can also be purchased optionally in-game as you attempt to breed a stable of grotesquely adorable thoroughbreds.
