They may not be as instantly iconic as her bullet bra, her "Healthy" tee, her cowboy hats, or her geisha garb, but shoes have always played an integral role in Madonna's ever-evolving wardrobe. In August, accessible versions of some of her favorite footwear, including her dramatic over-the-knee boots, will hit select retailers as part of the launch of the Queen of Pop's new clothing line, Truth or Dare. A preview of the styles hit the web this week and showed a range of sexy, club-ready styles, including a python print pump with hidden platform and a severe stiletto ankle boot. All styles are moderately priced between $89-$349.
The Truth or Dare shoe line, produced by Aldo, was helmed by Arianne Phillips, who earned an Oscar nomination for her costume design work for Madonna's W.E. However, the pop superstar is actively involved in the development of her burgeoning clothing and accessory empire, Phillips insists. "Her fingers are really on this brand," she told Women's Wear Daily. "The first thing I did was remind her of all the shoes she wore over the years, and we took the styles that we can't live without. You can always depend on her to bring her style and provocateur quality, but she also has a very feminine perspective."
Macy's, Nordstrom, ASOS, Selfridge's, and dance brand Capezio will be among the stores to carry the shoe range this summer.
