Lady Gaga will be the latest musician to join the competitve world of celebrity fragrances with the debut of her custom Coty scent, reportedly called Monster. The fragrance, due in 2012, will smell like "blood and semen" (!) according to the license for it she signed last year. But she's hardly the only chart-topper taking her time in releasing a signature fragrance – over 62 star-sponsored scents have been released since 2007, and with the holiday retail season now in effect, it's only growing more competitive. As we announced last week, Madonna will also finally formally join the celebrity beauty market in 2012 with the release of the "timeless and modern" gardenia-laden Truth or Dare, which will conicide with the launch of her adult clothing line of the same name. Now that she and Gaga are officially "in it to win it," it seems like every one of pop's heavyweights is also procurable in scent form. To help make more sense of these stars and their scents, we've mapped out some of the major ones already in stores for you.

Katy Perry
Fragrances: Purr and Meow
The hook: Fun and feline, both of Perry's youthful fragrances are the overtly feminine type you wear for a ladies' night out. Meow, which hits Nordstroms across the U.S. this week, is especially evocative of Perry's recent passion for all things candy-themed.

Rihanna
Fragrances: Fleur and Rebelle
The hook:
As you may surmise, Rebelle, the singer's new spicy, stiletto-shaped scent out in early 2012, represents the darker, naughtier counterpart to Fleur, her pleasant and sweet fragrance debut.

Britney Spears
Fragrances: With ten scents in all, Britney's beauty empire is the most successful of all her musical peers. In five years, she's sold $1.5 billion in fragrances alone. The latest, Cosmic Radiance, came out in August.
The hook: Names like Curious, Fantasy and Curious In Control say it all: Spears' fragrance empire is a convenient expression of her eternal good/bad girl appeal.

Gwen Stefani
Fragrances: L for L.A.M.B. as well as several budget Harajuku Lovers fragrances
The hook: Like her L.A.M.B. and Harajuku Lovers clothing lines, Stefani's scents are yet another extension of her own colorful visual and musical personae. Their actual notes are also suitably eclectic: from musky to sporty, her fragrance range is as dynamic as her songs.

Taylor Swift
Fragrance: Wonderstruck
The hook:
Following in the footsteps of her tourmate and crossbranding champion, Justin Bieber, Swift's floral debut scent is meant to evoke the romance and dreamy reveries of her tunes.

Justin Bieber
Fragrance: Someday
The hook: Bieber's debut scent drove adolescent females into a spending craze this summer. In less than one month, Someday shattered the year's sales records by reaping over $3 million in retail revenue. What does it smell like? Juicy mandarin, pear, and wild berries. And, of course, teenage dreams.

Beyoncé
Fragrances: Heat and Pulse
The hook:
Like J. Lo before her, Beyoncé likes to imagine her women engaging in dancefloor mischief in her fragrance. Feel the fever? With magnolia, peach, and red vanilla notes, the singer's sensual Southern roots come through in a heady mix.

Keith Urban
Fragrance: The newly launched cologne, Phoenix
The hook: It's unclear what Urban's scent is supposed to represent – a fresh, rugged spirit, a la Stetson, we suppose? The country star asked fans to contribute their own commercial concepts, inspiring Ellen DeGeneres to create her own (Urban-approved) parody ad.

Twilight
Fragrance: Immortal
The hook: The citrus and chamomile-infused scent, Immortal, launches this week in anticipation of the latest Twilight film, Breaking Dawn: Part 1 and attempts to convey "captivating and mysterious femininity."
