Speaker docks for the iPhone and iPad are as commonplace at consumer electronics retailers as hedonistic lead singers are at low-rent bars. Enter Grace Digital Audio's FireDock speaker dock for the Kindle Fire eReader, a veritable anomaly amongst audio accessories: it supports Amazon's popular tablet, a device that has largely been ignored for add-ons thus far.

Intended for use with downloadable music apps like iHeartRadio, Songza and Pandora – plus streaming media solutions including Vevo and Netflix – the stereo speaker set can play back content from and charge Kindle Fire units. Debuting in July for $129.99, it allows owners the option to purchase a rechargeable lithium-ion battery, which provides up to six hours of portable party-starting potential. Capitalizing on the Fire's wealth of downloadable diversions, which range from audiobooks to video games and on-demand music and video services, the cradle also supports horizontal and vertical viewing angles and public broadcasting options.

Priced surprisingly high, given the Kindle Fire's own $199 tag, the add-on may give potential buyers sticker shock. However, if there's one thing that the included remote control should be good for, it's letting you crank up the Morrissey to drown those sorrows.
