Donald Glover, the rapper/actor/comedian Rolling Stone presciently named the new Triple Threat, is set to create and star in a new music-centric comedy series on FX. The show is set in Glover's Atlanta hometown (and tentatively called Atlanta), reports Deadline, and will center on the Southern city's ever-thriving music scene. Glover will write, star and executive produce the half-hour series.
According to Deadline, several networks were interested in picking up the show, but Glover ultimately decided on FX because of its willingness to work around his touring commitments as MC Childish Gambino. The network had previously permitted Louis C.K. to take a year off his series Louie so that the comedian could focus on his stand-up.
Glover, who plays Troy Barnes on NBC's Community, will appear in just five episodes of that show's upcoming fifth season.
