Former Fall Out Boy singer Patrick Stump came by the Rolling Stone office recently to perform a few songs from Soul Punk, his first album as a solo artist, as well as an impressive cover of Tom Waits' "Step Right Up." After the session Stump talked about how he attempted to emulate the ornate syncopation of Timbaland by playing every part of complicated rhythms himself in the studio, and how striking out on his own compares to being part of a hugely popular band like Fall Out Boy.
