Robert Plant and the Band of Joy Cover Richard and Linda Thompson on Letterman

Robert Plant and the Band of Joy played a cover of Richard & Thompson's 1978 song "House of Cards" on Letterman last Friday. They are in the middle of an American tour that features a surprising amounts of Led Zeppelin songs, including "Black Dog," "Ramble On," "Tangerine," "Gallows Pole" and "Rock and Roll." The folky arrangements are often so radically different that even some hardcore Zep fans can't pick them out until the chorus.

Plant recently told Rolling Stone that he's unwilling to consider another Led Zeppelin reunion, despite playing one gig with them in 2007. "It was an amazing evening," Plant said. "The preparations for it were fraught and intense, but the last rehearsal was really, really good, for all that it represented and all that we were trying to capture. But I've gone so far somewhere else that I almost can't relate to it...It's a bit of a pain in the pisser to be honest. Who cares? I know people care, but think about it from my angle - soon, I'm going to need help crossing the street."
