'Legend of Zelda' in 3-D Hits Nintendo 3DS on June 19

POSTED:

Much vaunted video game The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is getting a 3-D extreme makeover, and is coming to the Nintendo 3DS on June 19.

Among gaming’s most celebrated fantasy role-playing classics, the remastered Nintendo 64 dungeon crawl will offer 3-D special effects with no glasses, letting you solve puzzles and fight monsters that almost literally burst from the screen.

Despite mixed reactions to the 3-D portable handheld device, with criticisms leveled at its brief battery life and sometimes dizzying views, roughly 400,000 Nintendo 3DS systems sold in the system's first week at retail. Fan enthusiasm for updates of popular franchises including Mario Kart and Kid Icarus also remains high.

As one of the industry’s most beloved titles, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D should engender further fan goodwill, with releases for the system presently few, far between and of scattershot quality. At the very least, the inclusion of the game’s special Master Quest edition, which ups the overall difficulty level and swaps level design layouts, should add extra incentive to keep you happily plugging away during extended road trips.
