BBC Brings British TV Favorites to iPad

Telly vision: According to The Guardian, fans of British TV series such as Top Gear, Doctors and Eastenders will soon be able to watch these shows and others from the U.K. on iPad via the BBC’s international iPlayer app for less than $10/month.

Both new and classic programming will be available and in its original format, without editing, recasting or adjustment, as is typical when programs are exported to foreign countries.

Using the app, viewers can watch shows as they were originally intended by their creators, and with a healthy dose of British humor and/or sensibility.

“The greatest month-on-month growth now is not on PCs or cable TVs but on iPads, iPhones, other smartphones and games consoles,” said BBC director general Mark Thompson.
