3D 'Star Wars' Movies Arrive February 2012

Classic sci-fi movie series Star Wars is coming to theaters in 3D on February 10, 2012, starting with an extreme makeover of The Phantom Menace, according to Lucasfilm and Twentieth Century Fox.

Additional films will follow in chronological order, with a new episode to be delivered each following year through 2018. According to an official statement, every “meticulous conversion is being done with utmost respect for the source material, and keen eye for both technological considerations and artistic intentions.”

Initially announced last fall, plans to bring the Star Wars films to 3D are also being joined by the September 27 release of lavish Blu-ray boxed sets. All two Jar-Jar Binks fans are no doubt ecstatic.
