Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood stopped by Live with Kelly this morning to perform a festive take on the holiday standard "Baby, It's Cold Outside." The recorded the song for their new holiday album Christmas Together, along with 10 other holiday-themed tunes.
Before performing, Brooks and Yearwood joined host Kelly Ripa and guest co-host Christian Slater to chat about family traditions, decorating the tree and favorite holiday dishes. And with Yearwood running the kitchen, holiday cooking sounds like it's a season-long event.
"She's amazing. It starts at Thanksgiving and goes all the way to New Year's Eve," Brooks says. "You make sure that you are off the road for that point, because you're not going to fit into any of your clothes or anything, you know."
When discussing the decision to record their holiday album – their first full-length collection of duets – the pair revealed that their biggest inspiration was creating music they could enjoy with their children.
"We built the CD for one purpose: to decorate the tree with our girls," Brooks explains. "That's our one tradition is we decorate the tree with the girls."
Brooks, who released his latest album Gunslinger in November, has a handful of tour dates scheduled in 2017.
