See Tedeschi Trucks Band's Smoldering George Jones Cover

Rhythm section takes a break for reverent rendition of the Possum's "Color of the Blues"

Tedeschi Trucks Band perform a cover of George Jones' "Color of the Blues."

Hopping onto John Prine's duets album For Better, Or Worse last year was more than the work of a moment for Susan Tedeschi. The blues powerhouse has taken her experience covering George Jones' "Color of the Blues" with Prine and turned it into a staple of her own, as highlighted in a clip from Tedeschi Trucks Band's newly released concert film and live album, Live From The Fox Oakland.

For Better, Or Worse saw Prine share the mic with a who's who of female country stars, including Miranda Lambert, Kacey Musgraves, and even his own wife, Fiona. That album's take on Jones' impressionistic tearjerker was downright jaunty, but Tedeschi has since worked it into live sets with the band she and husband Derek Trucks lead. In TTB's hands, "Color of the Blues" is a showcase for Tedeschi, a moody slow burner with just her and her backup singers.

Live From The Fox Oakland was recorded in a single night on September 9th, 2016 and released last week, the band's second live album and first-ever concert film.
