See Little Big Town's Surreal 'Sesame Street' Performance

Vocal group appears on the long-running children's show to sing about instruments with Cookie Monster and company

Little Big Town performed in a psychedelic segment on 'Sesame Street.'

Little Big Town got in touch with their trippier side during a recent visit to, of all places, Sesame Street. (Watch the clip above.)

Drenched in artificial sunlight and a psychedelic camera filter, the band performs "I Is for Instruments," a laid-back ditty about, you guessed it, musical instruments. They're joined by Sesame Street characters Elmo, Grover, Cookie Monster and Abby Cadabby.

While LBT have their harmonies on lock, as always, it's Cookie Monster who steals the show with a mid-song sax solo, despite Grover's best efforts as a "one-man band." While "I Is for Instruments" is primarily about music, the educational song also promotes a message of unity, with lines like, "They look and sound so different, just like you and me / They still play great together, just like you and me."

Little Big Town are currently on tour. They'll play the iHeartCountry Festival on May 6th, and make a stop at CMA Music Festival on June 11th. Their residency at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium – in support of latest album The Breaker – continues through the end of November.
