See Dolly Parton Play a Prostitute in 'Christmas of Many Colors' Trailer

New TV-movie follows up last year's 'Coat of Many Colors,' a film adaptation of Parton's signature song

Dolly Parton's new TV-movie 'Christmas of Many Colors' airs November 30th on NBC.

Following the ratings success of 2015's Coat of Many Colors, NBC is set to unveil the next chapter in Dolly Parton's remarkable life story with Christmas of Many Colors: Circle of Love. Airing Wednesday, November 30th, the film poignantly recalls the true-life events surrounding family patriarch Lee Parton's efforts to give his wife and children a memorable holiday in spite of economic hardship.

In the just-released trailer for the film, Lee Parton, played by Ricky Schroder, takes on dangerous work in a coalmine to provide his family with the Christmas gifts they deserve, while young Dolly, played by Alyvia Alyn Lind, leads the effort to help her father raise money to buy her mother (once again portrayed by Jennifer Nettles) a wedding ring.

The clip offers a brief glimpse of the real Dolly Parton – playing the town prostitute "The Painted Lady" – interacting with her onscreen portrayer. Gerald McRaney, who has recently been featured in a supporting role on the NBC series This Is Us, returns as Parton's grandfather, Reverend Jake Owens.

A global icon and quintessential multi-tasker, Parton has spent much of the year on the road with her stripped-down Pure & Simple Tour, which spotlights material from her first Number One album in a quarter-century. She also continues to work on upcoming films in the autobiographical series, including Jolene, in which she will appear as the flamboyantly styled woman who inspired her interest in colorful dress and makeup as a young girl. She also continues to work on a Broadway musical based on her storybook life, but has only a vague timeline of that project's fruition at this point.

"Everything is going so great right now and I'm riding on such a good wave," Parton tells Rolling Stone Country. "I'm going to wait until I wash ashore and then I'll see when I have the time to devote – maybe in two or three more years ... Eventually we will definitely have it out there."

Christmas of Many Colors: Circle of Love premieres Wednesday, November 30th, at 9:00 p.m. ET on NBC and will be available on Blu-ray and DVD December 20th.
