Reba McEntire is making her return to network TV. The singer is reportedly teaming up with Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry for a new series on ABC described as a "Southern gothic soap opera."
The still untitled series will cast McEntire as a Kentucky sheriff who teams up with an FBI agent to solve an attack on a Fourth of July celebration in their town. The country star will also serve as an executive producer on the project. Her other TV credits include the hit sitcom Reba and Malibu Country, which was canceled after one season. She's also appeared in the films Tremors and Buffalo Girls, and onstage in the Broadway musical Annie Get Your Gun.
McEntire appeared to confirm the collaboration with Cherry on Instagram, posting a photo of herself near a sculpture of cherries and holding a script with the caption that read "Excited about a fun 2017."
