In the latest episode of Peter Travers' chat show Off the Cuff, Halloween 2 director Rob Zombie swings by the office to discuss chick flicks (Zombie calls He's Not That Into You "excruciating"), how blogs have diminished the role of the movie critic and the possibility of Zombie making a feature-length version of his Grind House trailer, Were-Women of the SS.
"Quentin is saying that Inglourious Basterds is the end-all, be-all of Nazi films, so he either beat me to the punch, or it's the return of the Nazi film," Zombie says of the project. "So if that's a big smash, Nazis are the new black. They're back. And ours is one step more because they're werewolf Nazis."
Zombie also talks about his "dark and fucked-up" childhood that inspired The Devil's Rejects and his "family film" Halloween 2. "My mom's side of the family, the whole family business, they were all carnies," Zombie tells Travers. "That was the life I knew as a kid, so that's what seeped into all these films I guess." Ironically enough, back in December 2007 during the release of his unrated Halloween DVD, Zombie told Rock Daily he had absolutely no plans to direct a sequel to his remake. "One is all I need," Zombie told us then. By the looks of the Halloween 2 trailer, however, we're glad he changed his mind.
For more Off the Cuff, including Zombie's attempt to pen a theme song for Travers' interview series, watch the video above.

Make it stop, make it stop!!! | September 10, 2009 10:24 PM
Mr. Travers,
Where on earth is your review for RZ's Halloween II??? I've been patiently waiting for 2 weeks now! I was anxious enough to see this piece of crap movie on the day it came out. Walking into the theater, I had a sudden sensation. Every scene from RZ's Halloween flashed before my eyes! It must have been divine intervention, but I was too foolish to ask for a refund. It was a mistake I would later regret. Well not too much later, as 10 minutes into the movie I was ready to leave after the opening sequence in the Ambulance when the paramedics discuss their desire of necrophilia. I cannot say that I was shocked when I saw this scene. I could smell it along with all the white trash packed in this movie as soon as the White Horse reference came on the screen. Anyways, I could ramble all day about how bad this movie is/was, but what I really want is your take, Mr. Travers. I speak for many when I say that I respect your opinions on movies and I just want to know what you think about this dirty, shit stained toilet bowl of a movie, cover in grime, bits of puke, caked with dried fecal matter... ew... this is exactly how I felt after watching this filth. I went home and showered twice, and I still felt dirty. So after all this ranting and raving, Mr. Travers would you please consider writing your review, or please please please add your review in your next feature. Thanks for everything you do Mr. Travers. Hope to hear your opinion soon.

Fresh off a screening this Sunday, I can state with absolute conviction that his Halloween II "remake" "redo" "reimagination" or whatever the fuck you want to call it is one of the most dreadful films I have ever seen. This, coming from a big fan of the series and someone who thought his first attempt was not quite as abysmal as most indicated.
I'd suggest seeing it if you believe that movies can't make you physically angry about the 9 dollars you just aborted.
unbelievably terrible.

Rob Zombie's "remake" of Halloween was absolute rubbish. Yeah, he has "vision" and he wanted to make both films "his way", but he's not making a movie for himself!
He let down a lot of fans of the original film, by inserting absolute rubbish plots that are supposed to "justify" myers' psychopathic ways. Great way to take out the suspense and mystery!
And The House of a 1000 Corpses has to be one of the WORST films made in history. Why does he bother really? All in all, his films are selfish pieces of rubbish.

zombie music and now movies are the same
what i want to say is =
any rob zombie flick is fun to watch
its the type of movies that after the 1st watch you forget most of his movie the only thing that i still remember about them all is his girl friend who became his wife ass thats what i like her ass and the way that she remind me of all the 80s slashers that had naked chicks with lovely ass's ;)

A remake of a sequel, who greenlighted this crap? Three of Zombie's four movies are unbearable ('Rejects' was only mildy horrible).

Intro is too long. You need to just get to the point.

weird al' yankovic in halloween 2, that's fucking hilarious beyond belief.
stephen | August 29, 2009 9:11 PM
Halloween 2 sucked, don't waste your time, the Weird Al cameo totally killed the movie
Nasty | August 29, 2009 5:22 PM
I love Rob Zombie. How can Travers actually enjoy the first part of Rob's Halloween? His remake was unbearable. Half the movie was an over the top, white trash parodying "origin" story that didn't need to exist. The rest was just stupid.

Rob Zombie is a cool cat and all, and I dig his music. But, man, that first "Halloween" remake was awful. Not interested in a double-dip, thanks.

I have no problems with Rob Zombie as a director but as an interviewee (here, at least), he sucks! I usually love Travers' little bits but this one is frustrating and unfulfilling. Make sure you have something to show us next time!

Zombie is a great director.
The Devl's Rejects is by far the best horror movie in years...
it is some kind of quentin tarantino meets dario argento in the texas chainsaw massacre scenario.
He makes movies with a lot of personality, and it's ok that some people dont like it.
a really neat guy | August 27, 2009 4:58 PM
zeeeehhhhh
You make no good points. How is he a hack? I hate lazy people. Zombie isn't a hack, he has a sincere unflinching vision and he always makes the film he wants to make no matter what and people either love him or hate it him for it. He takes risks while you just say stock responses that don't mean anything, I assume you are really boring.

Would Rob please give me, J, and John Tempesta a call? His solo career sucked and White Zombie deserves a much needed reunion.
White Zombie Fan | August 27, 2009 4:32 PM
I wish rob would go back to focusing on making music. By the way, when is "El Superbeasto" going to come out, we've been hearing about it for years.
Kevin the Robot | August 27, 2009 4:03 PM
Peter, don't be hating on Mystery Science Theater 3000. I'll take that MST3K movie. Some of the volumes that are out of print go for over 100 bucks on ebay. Tom Servo and Crow T. Robot are 100 times the movie critic that you are.
zeeehhhhhh | August 27, 2009 4:02 PM
the only good thing zombie has made has to be "werewolf women..." other than that he is a complete hack director
i mean come on
"One is all I need,"... And now two years later we got another piece of garbage, he treats his films like theyre going to be the gratest thing ever but they aren't!
I mean even michael bay or stephen sommers knows they aren't making "the godfather" so please go back to music or make a full-length "werewolf woman"
