Go see the Love Guru, I guarantee you'll die laughing.

I couldnt agree less about the love guru. Sure it was not the most complex of comedic movies but the jokes that hit, hit hard. Mike Myers does these types of movies so well and I couldnt stop laughing throughout. It doesnt need to be new to be funny. As for Get Smart I thought it was a good movie but I do not agree about the chemistry between Carrell and the other female lead. I thought it was forced and a little akward. Noone is buying these two as a possible couple.
Agreed mostly on Get Smart but I think Mr. Travers was wayy to hard on the love Guru, it got what it set out to do, make people laugh, the entire theatre I was in was laughing. But maybe us Canadians appreciate Mikes humor and loved seeing a movie about our team, who knows?

As a book editor and ghostwriter in the self-help book arena, I thought "The Love Guru" was hilarious. Sure, it went for low humor much of the time... but it was funny! I loved the made-up silly book titles (so close to the real thing but as written by a second-grader), Mike Myers was so good just being silly, and it was fun to watch a movie that was playful and creative. I went unexpectedly after other plans didn't pan out (an art opening I dropped by/very dark and depressing), and based on the movie trailers, I may never have seen this movie otherwise. If you're up for a silly film that make you smile and laugh, this one is a good bet -- especially if you're a fan of the self-help genre like I am.

Went and saw a special free preview of Get Smart last night, and it was actually funny! I was surprised since last year's flop,(The Noah movie. I can't remember the name of it) I though that Steve Carrell's movies would start going down hill, I was wrong.

The Love Guru is a piece of shit and Mike Myers is promoting all over the media as if it's worthy of an Oscar. To all: just cause Myers is in it doesn't make it good.

I can't address The Love Guru (and maybe don't want to), but having seen Get Smart I can assuredly (and highly) recommend it. The filmakers "Get It" with "Get Smart". This isn't the same as the TV series - that would not be funny these 40 years later - it is an homage and an update without losing the sharpness and self-awareness of the wit of the TV series. The focus is on Carell and his comic timing (especially when delivering Maxwell Smart's signature lines), but let me say that for a light summer comedy, this is one of the most well-cast films ever. Anne Hathaway is stunningly perfect as 99 (and God, she looks fantastic!), Alan Arkin priceless and dead on the mark as the Chief, The Rock a spot on choice for the smooth "superstar" Agent 23 (if you get the superstar reference, you'll also have a laugh with "The Great Khali"), and Terrence Stamp playing evil for understatement as Seigfried. Kudos to one great cameo and the modern way the filmakers work in classic props of the past. Go see "Get Smart" for what it is, and "Get It" because it's a little smarter than your average night out.

Anything with Jessica Alba in it, you know, is going to be a load of crap. The only good role she ever had was playing that doll in "Lars and The Real Girl".
