Michael Bay??? You must be talking about the OTHER Michael Bay--the Masterpiece Theatre guy, not the guy who directed "Pearl Harbor"...

Iron man is good.

I didn't compare Bay to more intellectual things. But remembered Transformers because of some sequences in Iron Man towards the end, mainly the ones with robots fighting. I think the special effects in Iron Man are way away from awesome, they are nothing special. And today, when just about everything can be made with computers, even special special effects don't deserve such applause IM is receiving. There's some good acting, I admit with no problems, but the script seemed also very silly to me at times, and then I remembered some roles, those actors played ... The directing is bad in my opinion. Or something of an average in today's American cinema of guys like Bay and alike. I think it's somewhat of disgrace for a site like IMDb to allow IM to climb to # 109 on Top 250. I don't thing IM is an entertainment movie, hoewever I enjoyed in silly titles like Batman with Bale, which is a movie much better made.

Bo... you're clearly not a fanboy, but comparing intellectually stimulating cinema to Michael Bay movies is just plain silly.

"Iron Man" will go down in history as one of the greatest comic book films ever made, and for those who don't care about such topics,it will still be remembered as a damn fine film.Robert Downey Jr.is superb as usual, and so is the rest of the cast.Jeff Bridges enters a new phase of his acting life playing a major heavy, and he does it with an evil metallic splash. This movie has all the elements of a modern classic-action,special effects, writing, acting, set design, etc and all are top-notch.I've always held the opinion that if Hollywood would stay closer to the scripts and ideas of Marvel and DC that made those comic books they created so fantastic, then the movies would also be so much more entertaining, and "Iron Man"is produced in just that way-truer to it's illustrated soul.We are all going to be better off at the theater with this approach, and the promise of "The Hulk"and the "Dark Knight"just became more elevated with the fine job Jon Favreau and co. did on his movie."Old Shell-Head" just raised the bar of quality for all comic book films yet to come, and I can't wait to see them.An "Iron Man" sequel is a must(how about "The Curse Of The Mandarin"or something of that ilk?"),and if someone could figure out a way to bring a multiple superhero movie to life like the "Justice League "or "The Avengers"the sky will be the limit,in terms of box office and entertainment.

You forgot a comma Bo. Iron Man was awesome and funny. Your not going to be handed a degree after walking out of the theater, but your not gonna fall asleep either. Stick around after the credits for a sequel teaser.

Uh Bo... are you just trying to sound intelligent? Because it sounds more like a string of bloated critical words.
Iron Man may not have been perfect but it was as fun as a comic book movie has ever been. If you're worried about the educational component to this movie just go watch Nova. The rest of us will smile and eat some popcorn.

I favor Iron Man much less. It didn't stimulate me intellectually in any way. It's a film based on a comic, ok, but the educational component should be positive in my opinion. I think Iron Man is an infantile film, compared to Michael Bay, but where I can at least laugh, since it doesn't try hard to be clever.
