Peter Travers Video Review: "10,000 B.C.," "The Bank Job," "Paranoid Park"

March 6, 2008 4:42 PM

In this week's video review, the Rolling Stone film critic casts a judgemental eye at this weekend's box office options: the special effects epic 10,000 B.C., the high octane heist flick The Bank Job and the quiet Gus Van Sant-directed Paranoid Park. Click above for the complete scoop. Plus: Read Peter Travers' reviews of Paranoid Park here and The Bank Job here.

I love these types of movies, and rarely listen to what the critics have to say, but in this case I agree 100%! 10000 b.c. sucked!!!

u all should not talk bad abt this movie.i personally enjoyed it and i think many other ppl would agree with me.so,please think twice before criticising other ppl's movies,in fact,u are criticising urself.

Not a Critic | March 12, 2008 8:46 AM

I'm just a moviegoer, so I listen to reviews, sorta. But when a critic would suggest another genre to the one you like, that just not right. I mean, bank robbers for wooly mammoths, sabre tooths and spears? Come on!

10000 bc was GREAT. who cares if was inaccurate history wise. It is a fictional movie, movies are suppose to be unreal and take you away to something out of the ordinary. Great special effects, and good story.

i absolutly agree.
i saw it opening day.
i couldnt stop laughing at the absurdity.
awful movie.
i feel compelled to tell everyone and anyone that this is one of the most overhyped movies ever.
such a let down.

He is cool. But I am very curious. Why did he post his profile on a celebrities and wealthy website named
" wealthydater
.. com". What is he looking for there?

I could be wrong - but almost never am - but whenever a film critic slates a film, it turns out to be really what the audience (in this case me) wants. Just not what film critics want. This guy'd be black-balled from the Film Critics' Club if he said he liked this or anything by this guy. I'm not defending Roland Whoever, but at least he isn't destroying New York in this new one.

The Bank Job will be good for two reasons: Jason Statham. It's British.

This movie assumes that we are truly ignorant by mixing at least 12,000 years of prehistory pushed into this ridiculous interpretation of 10,000 BC.
You could easily make a compelling interesting movie about what was going on at 10,000 BC. But the edition of prehistorically inaccuracies dooms this project from the get go.
I personally hope that this is out of the movies in a week and gone to Video, so other "good" movies can take it's place on the big screen.

you're so right, peter. 10000 bc is the worst movie of all time!!!!
