I can't say I understand the nod for Ruby Dee other than an acknowledgment of her career, as her appearance in American Gangster was minimal. I don't have a problem with the nod, but there's no way two scenes can constitute a win for this particular role. I'd like to see Amy Ryan win for two reasons: (1) she is good in the role, and (2) Gone Baby Gone was pretty much shunned in the other major categories. The likely winner is Cate Blanchett. Not having seeing I'm Not There, I can't much comment on her performance, which is (from what I'm hearing) eerily close to Dylan.
