Movie goers everywhere need to be slapped in the face by a masterpiece such as THERE WILL BE BLOOD. And I boldly say that it will pull off the upset.

There will be Blood is certainly better than NCFOM. But, unfortunately, it wonpt win, because it shows everything America don´t waant to recognize. A pity, but that´s the movie which is gonna be remembered. And about acting, Daniel Day-Lewis is worth Josh Brolin, Tommy Lee Jones and Javier all together.

I am a big fan of Peters reviews but I dont feel that No Country should be put above There Will Be Blood. Both Great films and both deserve to win I feel. I will understand that Blood will not win the oscar because it will leave some voters sour but I do feel it is the one that will be remembered as the most groundbreaking.

I would put my vote to No Country for Old Men. Many are going to argue that There Will Be Blood is some sort of neo-Citizen Kane that will be remembered for years, and while it is a tour de force in cinematography and acting, No Country provides the whole package: strong acting across the board, cinematography, intrigue, suspense, layers of subtext, and entertainment value. There is no question in my mind that No Country is what a film of the year should be: both engaging throughout the first viewing, and having the ability to be discussed and debated afterwards, and discovering new elements on subsequent viewings. No other movie nominated this year combines those two pivotal things. Michael Clayton and Juno are great experiences at the moment but do not leave much for dissection afterwards, while There Will Be Blood leaves a smorgasbord of subtext to decipher, but fails to engage at the same level as the other films.
All this said, I have yet to see Atonement.

That video right there is the reason i look up mr. travers' reviews every week. No Country all the way! Couldn't have put it better myself. I just have a very BAD feeling that No Country is going to get the shaft. Lets hope not!
