Radiohead Set to Announce Summer Gigs

March 12, 2009 11:12 AM

Radiohead's extremely tall guitarist Ed O'Brien has announced the band is plotting a summer tour, and that they are working on new tunes which may be debuted on the road.

Speaking to BBC Newsbeat, O'Brien said, "We are working on new material. We'll be doing some more recording. It's business as usual."

No word on whether the tour will include dates in the States, but let's all just go ahead and say a little prayer...

A Black Key Teams Up With A My Morning Jacket!

February 26, 2009 11:51 AM

Photo: Walter/Getty; Johnston/Getty

Black Keys guitarist and vocalist Dan Auerbach has recently released a killer solo disc, Keep It Hid, and he's just days away from embarking on a 10-city solo tour!

Backing Auerbach during his sets is the awesome Texas band Hacienda (who will also open the shows), who we introduced you to a few months ago.

The bummer is that, due to a death in his family, drummer Bob Cesare won't be making the trek with Auerbach. In his place, though, will be My Morning Jacket monster Patrick Hallahan. (The last time we saw Patrick he was ecstatically spinning around in circles at the Silent Disco at Bonnaroo, but we're sure he's recovered from that!)

Feb. 28 - Washington, DC - 9:30 Club
Mar. 01 - Boston, MA - Paradise Club
Mar. 02 - Brooklyn, NY - Music Hall of Williamsburg
Mar. 03 - New York, NY - Bowery Ballroom
Mar. 05 - Cleveland, OH - Beachland Ballroom

Jeff Beck Announces Club Tour!

February 18, 2009 12:06 PM

After his induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on April 4th, guitar virtuoso Jeff Beck has booked a ridiculously intimate, thirteen-date swing through the U.S., where he'll play clubs like Philly's Electric Factory and New York's Irving Plaza.

But we'll tell you what we're most excited about, is finally seeing Beck's young female bass-phenom Tal Wilkenfeld live and in-person.

Growing up in Australia, Wilkenfeld played guitar, but found her calling when she switched over to bass at age seventeen. She dropped out of high school, moved to New York, and started playing with session heavyweights (and Steely Dan vets) like guitarist Wayne Krantz and monster-drummer Keith Carlock.

Click here to check out Tal's website. Click below to watch her take a crazy solo on Beck's "Cause We Ended As Lovers" at the Crossroads Guitar Fest a couple years back.

She's an animal!!!
