Stevie Wonder, Live in '74

March 13, 2009 11:30 AM

We just got turned on to this killer Stevie Wonder board tape from a gig at the Rainbow Theater in London on January 31st, 1974.

This performance came between his powerhouse albums Innervisions and Fulfillingness First Finale, and Stevie and his band are on fire! They jam through cuts like "Don't You Worry 'Bout A Thing," "Superwoman," "Visions," and "Signed, Sealed, Delivered."

February 23, 2009 3:21 PM

As we understand it, this is how it all went down.

1. Brandon Flowers is a fan of the British rock group Starsailor.
2. Flowers teams up with Killers producer Stuart Price to remix the Starsailor tune, "Tell Me It's Not Over," laying down some vocals on the chorus.
3. Everybody loves it, except for some label bigwig who wants to halt its release.
4. It leaks onto the interwebs.

Christmas Comes Early

November 6, 2008 10:41 AM

A couple of months ago we were the first to tell you about This Warm December: A Brushfire Holiday Vol. 1, the holiday album from Jack Johnson's Brushfire Records. The album features tracks from each member of the Brushfire roster and will include an original tune from Rogue Wave. To keep in the spirit of the season, 25% of the proceeds will be donated in support of children's music education.

The record will be released on November 11th, but if you just can't wait then head over to iLike and stream the album in its entirety. As an added bonus, a downloadable version of Brushfire's first female artist Zee Avi's track "No Christmas For Me" is also available on the site.

Dig it.

Wilco and Fleet Foxes will be giving away a free cover of Dylan's "I Shall Be Released" to those who pledge to vote in the 2008 Election. The song was recorded when the bands shared a bill in Bend, Oregon, this past August.

When we ran into Foxes singer Robin Pecknold, we asked him about their mini-tour with Wilco:

"I love what Wilco has done. They're the shit. And we got to sing harmonies on 'I Shall Be Released!' Jeff sang the lead vocal and we sang the harmonies and the chorus. It was amazing. I mean, last Christmas I was doing the same thing with my mom and dad and brother. And now we got to do it with Wilco!"
