Billy Corgan is the Smashing Pumpkins, and after drummer Jimmy Chamberlain quit the band (again) recently, Corgan announced an open call for his replacement. The first round of auditions went down on Tuesday, April 16th, and according to the Pumpkin's website, System of a Down drummer John Dolmayan gave it a shot.
From the website:
"Overall the drumming auditions were considered a very positive
experience. The talent in all the drummers that tried out was
incredible. Some of the candidates include John Dolmayan of System of a
Down and Frank Lenz, a past band-mate of guitarist Jeff Schroeder from
The Lassie Foundation."
We're not sure how impressed Corgan was by Dolmayan's skills -- according to the Pumpkins website, they're thinking about holding another audition in May due to the "overwhelming response" from drummers around the world.

I dont much care about Pumpkins but John belongs with SOAD.... D best band ever .... SOAD needs 2 get back 2 work & release another amazing album.....

Frank Lenz is a better drummer than Dolmayan. I would be more interesting in him joining Smashing Pumpkins.

I dont feel like getting into the issue of Corgan trying to carry on the name of the Smashing Pumpkins...HOWEVER, I think it would be rad to hear Corgan and Dolmayan collaborate. Whether or not its called "Smashing Pumpkins."

The pumpkins are becoming a never ending boring story...
I don't understand why Corgan is keeping up this pumpkin-illusion. the last record is a great solo album. I don't give a flying shit about the past!

The pumpkins were amazing, but at this point they are just turning into another Guns n' Roses. I'm not saying to lose hope if you are a fan, just don't be expecting another Siamese Dream. So to answer the question , yes i do a flying shit.

The Pumpkins would be better if Corgan was replaced.
