Not too long ago we told you about our new favorite band from Seattle, the Moondoggies!
Here's the deal. They're led by guitarist/singer Kevin Murphy, with Robert Terreberry on bass, Carl Dahlen on drums and Caleb Quick on keys. The 'Doggies debut album Don't Be A Stranger is awesome, full of fuzzy guitars, rad choruses and stacked harmonies.
The Moondoggies – "Changing"
On April 25th, for the first time ever, the Moondoggies will be playing in Manhattan, at Crash Mansion. If you live near here, drop us an e-mail for a chance to win free tix!

This band changed my life!
Almost 5 years ago I met these guys before I ever heard them. I had one of the greatest nights of my life like and since I have introduced their music to everybody I know.
Don't sleep on this band. They sound the way you wish your band sounded.

Great show on November 28th at The Showbox at The Market in Seattle. Moondoogies, Jesse Sykes, and my personal favorite Star Anna and the Laughing Dogs. Seattle is pushing out some excellent rootsy Americana with a touch of Northwest Noir to keep it real. Anybody got any Vicodin?

I'm not gonna wax poetic about it, but the Moondoggies put on a hell of a show. Just caught them with another great Seattle band, Widower, and had a blast. Very good music if you like Southern/rootsy rock in any way. Light on frills and effort, heavy on talent and soul.
Drove up from Portland with a buddy who flew in from San Francisco to make me go, and I do owe him quite a bit for that.
To the abover calling them overrated, well, to each his own.

moondoggies = overrated
all you people are just so busy lookin' for the next big thing that anytime something "decent" comes along it gets all blown outta proportion. this is a solid band. but not a great one. probably never will be "great" (that is a word best reserved for the '60's influences this band eats up)...
come back to earth y'all

Damn good band. They played a show in SF opening for Bhi Bhiman and were damn good. Unfortunately, I couldn't hear the harmonies that well, so they obliged us and came back for an after-party after the show to put on an impromptu acoustic set on our roof. Amazing. I love the sets on the ferry on their Myspace page.

great band. hope their album comes out on vinyl soon. have seen 'em here in seattle at dubliner and blue moon tavern--both places no one looks twice if you knock over a beer. there's something in their music which reminds me of CCR--maybe it's the rhythm or more just a certain lifeloving attitude. anyway, they rule. also, keep an eye out for Le Sang Song, who opened for them at Blue Moon on Nov 1 2008.

The Moondoggies are great! I haven’t seen a band at The Blue Moon with that spirit I saw the Dead there (am I the last one alive who remembers when the Stones came in after hours)
And hey don’t forget those boys are really from my neck of the woods, north of Seattle in Everett, Washington.
. . .and word the wise, if you like the Moondoggies LIVE, you’ll love the other sparklin’ jewel out of Everett, The Staxx Brothers. Everyone thinks they’re this wild Hip Hop band, but they have the most original & authentic take on Country Rock I’ve heard since, I swear to God, Blonde on Blonde. My son turned me onto them, dragged me out to see them at Bumbershoot – and I got hooked on this song of theirs called Back Home. It sounds like Otis Redding fronting Shotgun Willie’s Family Band. It sounds like a bunch of Nashville studio cats stuck in Memphis. Everett is ALIVE!

The Moondoggies have consistently put on some of the best live shows I've seen in Seattle in the past year. I'll echo the comments above - this is a band you'll probably have to hit festivals to see soon enough, so see 'em in small venues while yu still can. (think the "Blue Moon Tavern" in Seattle's UDistrict - fuzzy and beer stained )

I been listening to their album everyday for the last month and it just keeps getting better and better. There is a lot of wonderful sound on it.

Sometimes you hear a band and immediately connect with them.. Sounds that touch your pulse, your heart, your life. That, for us, are The Moondoggies. Can't put down the album and long for the next! Seen 'em at multiple venues, including: The Gorge, Eagle Island Festival, The Tractor and, most importantly, those intimate shows at The Blue Moon. They are real. They are good young folk. They are what we need! Can't wait til the "rest of the world" hears them...
The Moondoggies saved my soul. | October 7, 2008 6:49 PM
The Moondoggies will save your soul and that is a guarantee. Not only through their music but through their honest personalities, this group of young Seattle-lites truly brings passion to their music. Their debut CD is incredible and their live show will make you move in your shoes and dance for more! It's nearly impossible not to be excited about the sound that comes from these Northwest boys.
Wish them well or go check them out as they head off for their west coast tour! You won't be disappointed!!

The Moondoggies will be the next revolutionary band out of Seattle. No other band today is making music like these guys. They will renew your faith that GOOD music happens. Rockin' rhythms & harmonies.

Saw The Moondoggies a couple times last winter (with other great Seattle bands North Twin and The Maldives) . The Moondoggies stole the show! Congrats 'Doggies!

The Moondoggies will be in San Francisco on Saturday October 18th at SLIM'S w/ Bhi Bhiman, The Stone Foxes, and Doug Ellington. Take advantage of a $13 ticket...you'll be paying festival prices soon enough. Congratulations guys - I can't think of another band more deserving of this praise and recognition.
