We've been going nuts in Australia for the last two weeks, working on that huge Kings of Leon story that will be featured very soon in an upcoming issue of Rolling Stone.
Oh my god did we have fun. We were poolside with Pete Townshend, we took a field trip with Coldplay, we DJ'ed a party with Kylie Minogue and, of course, we partied with the Kings for nine long days in Sydney.
The only thing that we didn't do is scale the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Why? Because you have to pass a breathalyzer test to gain access. And, as Caleb Followill pointed out, echoing all of our sentiments, "I don't think there's a single point in the day where I could pass a breathalyzer."
We just wanted to let you know that we're back. Stay tuned for more from the S.S.!

If you think that Austin Scaggs writes like a fan girl you're
delusional. Actually what you really are is a know it all who is
predicting the tone of the article before you've read it and some
who believes what they read in a German magazine when you've
no idea whether it was honest or not. I certainly would rather read an in depth review of the KOL than about someone's dripping snot. That seems to be the type of article you put credence in.
I enjoy Austin's take on the current scene immensely and will be
looking forward with great interest and curiosity to the upcoming
story. Keep up the good reporting.

All I know is KOL better end up on the cover! Its plain unbereevable that the Kings have never been on it yet the fucking Jo Bros have!!

Nick, when you write something, sometimes people react to it. You don't want to be slated personally for what you write, but yet you see no problem trashing Austin Scaggs. Criticism is fine, but saying someone "writes like a 12-year-old-fangirl," is really snotty and reeks of someone who's a music snob.

Marty, like I said anyone can post what they like here. I wasn't critising the band, I merely pointed out that Austin does go overboard with his praise. I also said I didn't dislike the band, the interview I read recently painted them in a more honest light than any other major magazine article they have done of late. The boys are human and fuck up like everyone else, it's just very rarely pointed out in articles which is why I mentioned it. If you don't like or agree with my comments, fine. But don't slate me personally.

In all fairness Matt, this is an open forum where anyone can post their views regardless. And if Lido liked U2 then he would probably like Kings of Leon too considering how much they've ripped U2 off (and vice-versa if you've heard U2's latest effort).
I don't dislike the band but Austin does write about them like a twelve year-old fangirl. I can't imagine this article will be anything more than a huge puff piece written in a sycophantic manner. The last honest article I read about them was for a German magazine when they cancelled two dates in Spain recently due to "Caleb's sudden illness" which everyone knew was bollocks. It turned out to be another two members of the band "overindulging" so to speak. The journo had to try and interview an unconscious member of the band whilst his nose was dripping with snot, whilst another member was so drunk they couldn't even be bothered to get dressed and turn up for the interview. Made for a more interesting read than anything else written about them of late.
