Kings On Fire

Is there a hotter band in the world than Kings of Leon?

We just got back from Nashville where we spent time with the Followill's for a BIG story in Rolling Stone. We cruised around in Matthew's new Corvette. Caleb made us a delicious dinner. We kicked it with Jared at his place and played some golf with Nathan. We spoke with their friends and relatives.

Forget everything you thought you knew about the Kings -- the real story of their childhoods and their rise to fame is going to blow your minds!

And get this: in two weeks we're flying down to Australia to hook up with them again for a week in Sydney!

Look for the feature in the mag in April!

WOW. lacking stage presence and charisma? come on... i've never seen a more thrilling show than the last Kings of Leon show at the Orpheum in Boston. I'm psyched these guys are getting the recognition they deserve - can't wait to read the story!

KoL are a good band but they do lack stage presence and charisma. There are so tame and clean cut these days (both live and with their music) that it's actually become quite dull to see them play now, it's very formulaic and business-like, sometimes they don't even appear to be having much fun. When I see them now and compare them to what they used to be like, it reminds me of something Bill Hicks once said:

"It's great to be here. I thank you. Ah, I've been on the road doing comedy for ten years now, so bear with me while I plaster on a fake smile and plough through this shit one more time."

Replace the comedy with music and you have KoL summed up right there.

Those of you who say they suck live are just plain wrong. They are absolutly flawless live and thats coming from seeing them 5 times now in both massive and small venues. C'mon lets not lie now folks!!
Here's hoping they're on the cover cos its way way overdue!

I saw them live, they weren't good. Overrated and they aren't good people to boot.

This band has already peaked in the UK. They've done the alt-rock thing with their first 3 albums and thanks to Only By The Night are so mainstream and overplayed now that unless album 5 is a musical masterpiece, there's no way they'll sustain the success they have here because they can't get any bigger in the UK than they already are. They've won every major award, played in the biggest venues, there's nothing left for them to do here so it will be interesting to see what happens after Only By The Night.

Seen these guys live twice, pretty uninspired and not worth the money. Good albums, though.

"The hottest band in the world who plays for an hour and 20 minutes with the same set list every night"

A hour & 20 minutes? They usually play close to two hours. Maybe they just didn't like you ;)

The hottest band in the world who plays for an hour and 20 minutes with the same set list every night. These guys should of gotten the cover after Aha Shake Heartbreak and not after that crap wanna-be arena pop-rock album.

It's way past due for Rolling Stone to have these boys on the cover :)

Do I detect a cover story? I think Kings of Leon has genuinely earned it. It is nice to see a band that has pushed so hard the past few years finally make a breakthrough.

But if RS is giving KOL the cover story, you definitely have to give Wilco the cover too when their new album comes out!

Woo, can't wait for this! Hopefully it's a BIG story!

I'll keep an eye out for the article. Have fun in the land down under. Say hi to that annoying sax player from Men At Work, I'm sure he's busking on street corners everywhere there.
