Pearl Jam fans, here ya go.
For the first time anywhere, check out two tracks from the upcoming reissue of Pearl Jam's epic 1991 debut, Ten. Check out a leaner, grittier, nastier mix of "Porch," and then dig "Brother," a Ten outtake.
On March 24th, Pearl Jam will reissue Ten. Longtime producer Brendan O'Brien has remixed the original tracks -- which, we can attest, sound better than the original versions -- and a slew of B-sides and rarities will be included. The reissued album will come in four different special editions, each containing a remastered copy of the original album, plus the O'Brien remixed version.
Dig it.

Dave Krusen "average at best"?
Rock | April 9, 2009 6:47 PM
Matt Cameron is definetly the best drummer PJ has had. I have to say I prefer the instrumental version of Brother on Lost Dogs over the new version.
chad | March 28, 2009 11:02 AM
it doesn't matter who is in the band. As long as Eddie is there it will sound like PJ. He could fire everyone and hire session guys and it would sound like PJ. It case you didn't notice, after "Vs" Eddie hijacked the whole thing and the band pretty much became the "Eddie Vedder Experience".
TRUTH | March 28, 2009 9:23 AM
Ten sold all those copies because the mainstream world was starving for good music in the early 90's.(Oh yeah! and because Eddie Vedder was soooo dreamy!!!)Dave K. was a drunk and an average drummer at best. Ten was so over-produced that a wind up monkey could have played the drums on that record. That's why the newer"stripped down" versions of those songs sound so much better.Dave A. was a good fit for awhile and kept it together pretty well on the road but never really contributed that much.Jack Irons was the man!! and Yield is by far their best record in my opinion.(And don't forget..If their was no Jack Irons there would never have been a Pearl Jam.) When Jack finally joined the band he was old and pretty broken up physically, but still rocked the hardest of any PJ drummer.Don't get me wrong, Matt is no slouch either. He is the perfect fit for the band today.
timmyshee | March 25, 2009 3:25 PM
I was sceptical when I heard they would mess with Ten, but BO'B has done a great job. The original is not my favourite PJ album, but this bad boy might just set the record straight (pun intended).
It rocks hard.
NO to Jack Irons | March 19, 2009 8:54 PM
I'm sorry, No code was a great album, but Jack irons was by far the WORST drummer pearl jam ever had. Kruesen wasthe man
All wrong | March 18, 2009 2:34 PM
Jack Irons is the best drummer they've had. If you don't think No Code and Yield are supreme, something is wrong.
giorgio | March 15, 2009 3:24 PM
Krusen's drumming was just perfect for PJ's music. I don't think they sounded anywhere near as good as on Ten as a band.
Urlak | March 11, 2009 11:25 AM
Sheesh, no love for Matt Cameron!
mr duggan | March 10, 2009 10:53 PM
let's just end all the debating. dave A was their best drummer. period. his beats and fills. etc. ok, best is relative, but the most cohesive lineup was when ambruzzee was on the kit.
JDawg | March 9, 2009 3:57 PM
erawk--not trying to offend anyone and certainly not harrassing anyone! You're right everyone has their own opinion, and that was mine! But the reason Ten sold so well wasn't because of Krusen (or even 20% of the reason). The guys let him go because he was inconsistent and drunk most of the time. At any rate, PJ is a fine fine band no matter how you slice it!
Joao | March 9, 2009 12:54 PM
Kruzen rocks! That's the PJ we all miss so much......
erawk | March 7, 2009 12:02 AM
brother sounds amazing!! I can't wait until the re-release comes out! btw, jdawg buddy-everyone has their own opinion. really? you are going to hassel a pj fan about one of their drummers. there is a reason that ten sold the most albums of their entire career-dave krusen IS one of the five reasons.
Phillyguy | March 6, 2009 1:43 PM
I don't know, I thought the first drummer was great. Krusen, Cruzan, however you spell it. That's when the BAND sounded best in my opinion ( and i think a few others..) Brother kicks ass! And Brendan O's job with Porch- amazing!!
JDawg | March 2, 2009 7:49 PM
Trent Buddy, no disrespect to Dave Krusen (not Cruzen), but the breakup of Soundgarden was the best thing that ever happened to PJ. They got Matt Cameron out of the deal. Just remember, Matt has never sucked! At best Dave is maybe their third best drummer.
Trent Edwards | February 25, 2009 7:33 PM
I like the earlier version of Brother. Eddie's voice is a little bit more grittier and "throaty" sounding. And the guitars aren't as rockin either. The older version when he screams "Brother" is way better. Why didn't they just do some guitar lead overdubs and remix the original? I miss Dave Cruzen's drumming...
jdanielross | February 23, 2009 3:10 PM
Porch=YES!!!!!
Jerome Turner | February 21, 2009 3:01 AM
C'mon 10 Club... give us a TOUR!
I know I'm not the only one waiting for them to play Brother LIVE on the next tour!!!!!
Allison | February 20, 2009 9:34 PM
Brother kicks ass----This is Ed's voice supreme...and hell yeah on guitars and just rockin in general...yeah, these guys can teach the youngsters a thing or two about REALLY playing....oh yeah, and dignity, and ethics, and all that stuff too...Porch was always a fav of mine anyway...i can't wait for this....dude, they just toured in the summer....
Jerome Turner | February 20, 2009 9:23 PM

Brian | February 20, 2009 3:28 PM
"they sound like Stone Temple Pilots"
hahaha kids these days are hilarious. PJ is probably the most ripped off band in history (almost always for the worse).
But yeah STP's early stuff was basically a straight rip of PJ. i like it though.
oh yeah. this new mix is awesome.
yoke | February 20, 2009 2:58 PM
yup... these rule, $140 well spent
adam42381 | February 20, 2009 11:02 AM
Nicely done!
Anklesoup | February 20, 2009 12:59 AM
A.) Brendan O bashers; BIG NEWSFLASH GENIUSES!!! HE did not want to do this remix for a lonnnnnnnggggggggg time. THE BAND begged him to. He saw it as a no-win because ignorant people(hold up your mirror now) would not know he did not want the remix. I was a fan when I thought the band was gonna be called Mookie Blaylock and I think the remix is AMAZING! PJ is a rare gem in this world.
B.) to people who say PJ sounds like Stone Temple(or worse yet Creed, Seven Mary Three, or(gag)Nicklesuck), try looking up debut album release dates!
Stone | February 19, 2009 10:00 PM
Brother sounds horrible, namely because they took out a lot of the compliment that Ed sung on the original Demo and took out the little speech he made at the end.
Porch sounds vicious and edgy. I hope the rest of the tracks sound that way. I hope the remastered Ten with the original effects sounds great too. My guess is that's what will sound best.
I wish they had rerecorded Ten. I know they've talked about wanting to do it, and that it would've been harder and faster.
Verworn | February 19, 2009 9:26 PM
Hearing these songs is kind of like a smokin' girl you did back in high school, coming back to town to hook up with you for one more weekend after 18 years and sending you naked pics of herself with a body even hotter than before! = Excited and harder than Chinese Trigonometry.
Maybe Axl should have taken a lesson from Brendan on how to release something that rocked this hard!
huck5 | February 19, 2009 8:49 PM
Both are sweet...$140 well spent...
2 questionable 2 ??????2 | February 19, 2009 8:11 PM

Tracy Morgan's Wifey | February 19, 2009 8:10 PM
This is my new reason for getting up in the morning... to flip the calendar until it hits 3/24. WOW WOW WOW. Go PJ!
questionable?? | February 19, 2009 8:06 PM
is this the guys really recording ,or is this obrien sitting in a studio hacking up the original scores with his fancy gadgets and and knobs to change the whole song to some "new "version he can take credit for . im indifferent about this situation .
