As we understand it, this is how it all went down.
1. Brandon Flowers is a fan of the British rock group Starsailor.
2. Flowers teams up with Killers producer Stuart Price to remix the Starsailor tune, "Tell Me It's Not Over," laying down some vocals on the chorus.
3. Everybody loves it, except for some label bigwig who wants to halt its release.
4. It leaks onto the interwebs.

emily | May 1, 2009 12:39 AM
umm..how in the world do you download this thing?!?
Alex | April 5, 2009 12:18 AM
Oh dear such unenlightened children--"Starsailor are a joke here in the UK"---idiocy and just plain wrong! Nobody matches James Walsh's emotional intensity, NOONE! Simple, beautiful, gorgeous, and brilliant is Starsailor.

RE: joe parker
Whatever i've just seen the killers live and they were amazing (met them 2)
xx
Lels | February 26, 2009 3:09 PM
If Brandon Flowers hadn't been a part of this song, I would've never listened to it. He definitely attracted more people.
felicity | February 26, 2009 10:13 AM
i've only listened to this because of brandon flowers, and i don't mind starsailor either, but this is brilliant..
i'm totally being bias, but brandon brings some oompfh to the song.
love it.!!

The Killers are certainly not mediocre, Brandon Flowers is the best frontman I have seen and he has a superb singing voice. I think quite a lot of men are jealous of him.
Joel | February 26, 2009 3:49 AM
Joe Parker, I believe you are an idiot.
Nonetheless, its true that Flowers' didn't bring much to the song, but what he did bring was a different atmosphere. It gave the song a new life and a new feeling. A great job I think.
Lyndsay | February 25, 2009 2:46 PM
Brandon brought some life into an already amazing song.
I should check out some more Starsailor, since my favourite man in the world is a fan. Brill job.

re: joe parker, starsailor are only a joke to the nme who backed them beyond belief until their 'new rock revolution'. their debut album is still one of the best this decade and keep doing very good singles ("on the outside", "silence is easy"). but we all know nme has a habbit of quickly moving on to what they think their readers like (see razorlight, the kooks, the darkness and the vines as examples) while trying, and failing, to be the voice of uk music. i'm not as big a fan of starsailor as i used to be, but to try and say they are a joke is a joke itself
joe parker | February 25, 2009 7:42 AM
let's face it, the killers are pretty mediocre, and starsailor are just rubbish (a bit of a joke here in the UK really)
so this track's no exception.
"hey! no-one listens to us because we've got fewer ideas than a tank full of goldfish!! quick, someone push the 'anthemic' button REALLY HARD"
oh dear

Decent song at the core, though sounds like they swiped Coldplay's "The Hardest Part" - which in turn sounds like they ripped it off from old school R.E.M. The remix doesn't sound like it adds much apart from electronics (making it sound more like Keane) and Brandon's vocals in the background.
Interesting fact: Phil Spector was going to produce Starsailor's second album, his first production in two decades, before they fired him after two songs because they couldn't stand him and his methods any longer (no surprise there). This was the last thing Spector worked on before the Lana Clarkson murder and his subsequent trial.
