Because there's just not enough retarded sexuality and bad poetry out there, Spinal Tap have reunited. Derek Smalls, Nigel Tufnel and David St. Hubbins have confirmed to BBC 5 Live that they plan to hit the studio to record new material!

Bassist Derek Smalls said the album will be available "for download and coventional media later this year."

As for what will be included on the new album, Smalls added, "We'll do a song called 'Gimme Some More Money,' probably with some dubious results."

There are also plans to record the song "Warmer Than Hell," which they performed at the Live Earth gig a couple years back, in London.

Since then, due to the economic woes, Tufnel's haberdashery has gone out of business.

Fleet Foxes Robin Pecknold Posts New Solo Recordings

Below, check out two new songs from Fleet Foxes frontman Robin Pecknold. Under the moniker White Antelope, Pecknold covers "False Knight on the Road" -- a traditional popularized by the British folk outfit Steeleye Span -- and a short instrumental called "Guitar Duet." Both tunes are cool.

Pecknold told the Chocolate Bobka blog that he'll continue to post demos on his White Antelope MySpace before they are released on record, and that coming soon is a cover of Judee Sills' "Ridge Rider."

Why all the covers?

"Trying to write new stuff is hard right now for some reason," he said.

Bonnaroo Busts Out 2009 Line-Up

February 3, 2009 10:52 AM

The Bonnaroo line-up was announced this morning and.... we're a bit underwhelmed with the headlining acts!

Two performances by Phish? (One is plenty.)

And Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band? (Sure, it'll be fun, but isn't Bruce totally played out these days?)

Anyway, to each their own.

Thankfully, the supporting cast should make us all happy.

Of course, we'll be descending on Tennessee once again thanks to the Beastie Boys, Nine Inch Nails, Mars Volta, Lucinda Williams, Al Green (our hero), Animal CollectiveSnoop Dogg, Wilco, David ByrneTV on the Radio, MGMT, Elvis Costello, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and the Ting Tings, among others.

Additional artists will be announced over the next few weeks, Let's pray that one of them is Stevie Wonder.

Tickets go on sale on Saturday February 7th and will be available on the Bonnaroo website.

Does Coachella's 2009 line-up look stronger than Bonnaroo?

Still too close to call.

Marilyn Manson To Hit New Low

What the hell is Marilyn Manson up to, you ask?

"My new record is done, man," he tells the S.S. "It's called The High End of Low - it's a self-described state of being that I'm in. You're going to be fucking freaked. It's the shit."

Manson is currently in the mixing process - no word yet on a release date - and this month he'll shoot the album's first video, for the tune "I Want to Kill You Like They Do in the Movies." "It's nine minutes long," he says. "Severely sadist. Basically, it's murder, sex, death, the end."

While we're in Los Angeles for the Grammy's, we'll drop by Manson's pad and get the full scoop.

There ya go.

Pearl Jam's Mike McCready Just Might Take a Dump In Your House Someday

February 2, 2009 10:54 AM

Everybody knows that feeling -- that feeling you get when you really have to take a crap.

But very few understand that pain like Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready, who suffers from the gastrointestinal disorder known as Crohn's disease, which causes instant, explosive diarrhea.

Last week, McCready asked Washington state lawmakers to pass a law allowing Crohn's disease victims emergency access to private restrooms at places of business.

"Imagine the worst diarrhea you've ever had, and then times it by 10, with a knife in it," McCready said. "You have maybe a half-a-second to find out where a bathroom is."

(Because, we assume, by the time you run up to someone's door and explain -- "Hi, I'm Mike McCready, I'm the lead guitarist for Pearl Jam, nice to meet you. By the way, I suffer from a gastrointestinal affliction known as Crohn's disease and I need to take a shit immediately, can I use your toilet?" -- it's too late.)

And yes, McCready has soiled himself while on stage. "I was in the middle of a solo and it hit, and I can't go anywhere because I'm playing in front of 20,000 people," McCready told The Associated Press after he testified. "So I just let go. I went back stage and cleaned up, because the show must go on."

Is that what "Yellow Ledbetter" is about?

Our buddy, Mark Healy, wrote about Bastards singer and mastermind Erika Wennerstrom in today's New York Times.

It's an amazing story!
