Led Zeppelin -- or whatever the hell you want to call it without Robert Plant -- are indeed pushing forward with plans to record and tour again.
According to a report on NME, Jimmy Page's manager is quoted as saying that the band is continuing a search to find a stand-in for Plant.
"They decided that if they could find a singer that they thought would fit their bill -- whatever their bill was at this stage in their career -- that they'd make a record and go on tour," says Peter Mensch, Page's man. "John Paul Jones and Jimmy Page enjoy playing with each other, and Jason Bonham is a really good drummer, so why not? We just need to find a singer."
Mensch wouldn't comment about rumors that Chris Cornell or Steven Tyler were in the running.
"It's gonna be a long and difficult process," says Mensch. "And we're not soliciting people! So don't call me about it!"
What do you think about Zeppelin carrying on without Plant?
Good times or bad times?
UPDATE: MusicRadar spoke with Peter Mensch, Jimmy Page's manager, this morning, and he vehemently denied ANY plans for a Zeppelin tour or album. "Led Zeppelin are over!" he said. "If you didn't see them in 2007, you missed them. It's done. I can't be any clearer than that."
He also confirmed that some singers were auditioned last fall when Robert Plant declined to rejoin the band, but none of the candidates fit. "They tried out a few singers, but no one worked out," said Mensch. "That was it. The whole thing is completely over now. There are absolutely no plans for them to continue. Zero. Frankly, I wish everybody would stop talking about it."

R. Plant: "Thank you! I reborn tonight!"
April 2006: concert of Robert Plant & The Strange Sensation; I remember when the band played "Whole lotta love", when the crowd was dancing and enjoying...and when R. Plant said to the crowd: "Thank you! I reborn tonight!"
"Thank you! I reborn tonight!" So come back, it's been a long time since you rock'n'rolled!
Liam | January 12, 2009 8:08 PM
Lil Wayne?
that's retareded
and P Diddy or Kanye West?
West can't sing without a synthesizer to make his voice hit the notes.
Nobody can replace Plant. Plain and simple.
This sucks serious balls, though. Looks like I'll never get to see Zeppelin live...
Maris | January 10, 2009 3:30 PM
Anyway many from Latvia think Led Zeppelin is one of the best band in history...no matter whats happened now..
zenwaitress | January 10, 2009 4:21 AM
The era is just over. You don't see anybody who has that kind of release on stage - it's all so contorted and stiff. You shoulda seen Plant back in the day - OMG I still get hot thinking about it. Roger Daltry was the next best thing, and there's not anybody holds a candle to him either. I feel sorry for all these Wanna be sad sack bands with their depressing whiny music. We were happy. Peace, Love and all that really was good times, people. You missed it. Watch the videos and move on.

let it die people. led zep died with bonzo.it's all over. get over it.
disbot 3000 | January 8, 2009 9:18 AM
It's great that these guys really want to play together and you have to expect that they would have to play some Zep tunes in concert or be stoned to death, but otherwise they need to break away from it being a "Zeppelin" project as much as possible. Maybe you won't sell as many tickets or albums, but it just can't be Led Zeppelin without Plant. It could still be really great (loads of talent with the remaining three) and, who knows, maybe something truly new will come out of it. Doubtful, but possible.
rock balls | January 8, 2009 9:12 AM
they should get lil wayne to do it because all they need to use is that vocal processer and make him sound just right.
i mean the world is getting suckered out of dollars by buying music that's been doctored up with trickery.
now people call kanye west the new stevie wonder and his new album is his blood on the tracks????!!!!
what a sad state the cultural community is in.
to quote iggy pop: "people are played for SUCKERS all the time, phony rock n' roll it's a crime.
zep ain't zep without plant and plant is way past his prime so have some dignity page and just hang it up!
Dusty Negrón | January 8, 2009 8:39 AM
How about my grandmother? She sings alright.
Jimmy Walker | January 8, 2009 8:12 AM
How about the singer of wolfmother. He would definitely fit in well
Arcai | January 8, 2009 8:00 AM
Bad times, bad times, and more bad times. Geez, Page's hands are huge.
Thomas | January 8, 2009 7:46 AM
Holy Crap..look at the size of Page's hands!!!!
A little lens distortion there?!?
Al.J | January 8, 2009 7:37 AM
They should decide with Myles Kennedy of Alter Bridge. The man has serious pipes... 4 Range vocals. That would be a great show.
Fred Lepperin | January 8, 2009 7:15 AM
Does Page look like Dave Grohl in this Pic?. Does he bollocks, Dave Grohl will have been around a month old when this was taken, he won't have had any facial hair
thomas | January 8, 2009 5:43 AM
Yes they should.
As long as they write a new album and tour on the songs of the new album and not as a Zep nostalgia band, then GO FOR IT!
Marcos | January 8, 2009 4:11 AM
Just don't call it Zeppelin.
JiveTurkey | January 8, 2009 3:49 AM
Dear "Robert": Please go find the nearest frying pan and smack yourself in the forehead with it. Halford, Dickinson, or Sebastian F'ing Bach fronting??? You obviously have no sensibility or understanding of music. And they shouldn't call themselves Zep w/out Plant.
YellowDirt | January 8, 2009 3:03 AM
We should move on from Led Zeppelin.........Like Plant has
He is the only smart one.
It is good music
This is a new time
We need new music
john | January 8, 2009 2:38 AM
fuck, dats it led zeps image has now become like gnr, which is fake!! someone stop this atrocious act.
Rob | January 8, 2009 1:58 AM
Doesn't make much sense, but heck neither. does a lot of stuff these days
Anonymous | January 8, 2009 12:52 AM
sorry that was totally off topic but i vote for chris robinson
Anonymous | January 8, 2009 12:51 AM
is it just me or does page look like dave grohl in that picture?
Anonymous | January 8, 2009 12:13 AM
i hope plant will come back but since hes being a dick, go on without him. page and jones are worth seeing
Serch! | January 7, 2009 11:18 PM
come on!...keep pushing 'bout tha tour and you'll see that Robert Plant will think it twice!
It would really be amazing you could get together again!
you know I wasn't even born when you guys rocked like any other so
please I'm just asking for another chance and a possibility of watch you rocking in a gig!
!!!!
The Song Remains the same.....
Robert | January 7, 2009 11:08 PM
Cornell sucks. Plant sucked at O2. He couldn't get the crowd going. And if he wants to move on tell the hypocrite to stop playing Zep at his Krauss shows. Oh wait then he'd have nothing much to sing. For all the idiots worried about it being called Zep get your heads out of you butts. There's only two living Zeps anyway. Was Plant/Page called Zep? No. Finally - there are only a few worthy contenders - Halford! Dickinson! Sebastian Bach! Ronnie James Dio! Joe Lynn Turner! Coverdale needs a dentist. Eliot needs to get back with Mutt Lange. And Cornell needs to get his own crap together with Soundgarden. And no Eddie Vedder is not the right guy either.
Travis | January 7, 2009 11:03 PM
They need Chris Robinson or Jack White to replace Robert Plant. Jack White vocals in "Blue Veins" by The Raconteurs sounds dead on like an early Zeppelin.
dan | January 7, 2009 10:52 PM
How about Anne Wilson from Heart...she did a great improv of Zepp
Vince | January 7, 2009 10:28 PM
How about Joaquin Phoenix..he is not acting anymore!
SK | January 7, 2009 10:14 PM
If they are going through with this ridiculous idea, then they should get Paul Rodgers. He made a new album and is on tour with what is left of Queen. They could call their new album BOZO or In Thru the Desperate Door.
Marty | January 7, 2009 10:13 PM
Maybe they could get Sammy Hagar and call themselves Van Zeppelin.
ek | January 7, 2009 10:00 PM
lol
Yeah. I'm 4 lil wayne 2.
I'm a huge Page fan but WTF!
husla | January 7, 2009 9:48 PM
my vote 4 lil' wayne
Matt | January 7, 2009 9:48 PM
Thank god they got rid of the whiney Plant, should have gotten rid of him ages ago!
Judy Z. | January 7, 2009 9:39 PM
Cornell, please. Best singer around. Don't call it Zep. Please do not call it Zep.
Jack Frost | January 7, 2009 9:27 PM
They should have replaced Plant in 1969
Dan | January 7, 2009 9:10 PM
they made the right decision to dissolve almost 30 years ago - why compromise that now!
instead, record the new material and tour it with covers added - under a new name. please?
jeff b | January 7, 2009 8:50 PM
I
johnnman | January 7, 2009 8:28 PM
bad idea to replace plant, but if they are they shouldn't hire a high-profile singer, they should choose jamesnorthenva; a member of a virtual zep group on utube. his voice is amazing and very similar to plants
Brazilian | January 7, 2009 8:27 PM
I don't care much about who they'll call. Just don't call it Led Zeppelin. It's already hard to take it without John Bonham.
Liam | January 7, 2009 8:24 PM
ehh, it really would be cool to see em' live again, and witht he record- but i dont think that anyone can replace plant, nor is it a good idea to attempt to, Led Zeppelin should remember that the last album /tour is going to be the standout in any career, and to end it without Plant could break them. wish em' good luck though..
FunnelFart | January 7, 2009 8:16 PM
Stupid.
p.dullea | January 7, 2009 8:14 PM
..must be some other prevailing un said issue that keeps Plant out of the loop. Especially not getting involved in Zeppelin studio release.
Drew | January 7, 2009 8:12 PM
I think scotty mack is onto something...Chris Robinson did wail when the Crowes were with Page...But, there's an album out called Encomium: A Tribute to Led Zeppelin with all LZ covers and some of them were done quite well. I especially liked the STP version of "Dancing Days" and hell, while we're at it, Duran Duran even did a decent job on "Thank You", but I'd dread hearing Page, Jones, and Bonham have to do "Rio"...haha
Maybe we should look to one of those groups to produce the vocalist...Now, don't get me wrong, I'm excited about the prospect of seeing half of LZ, but Led Zep's not really Led Zep without Plant. Maybe they could call it Fred Zeppelin or Ted Zeppelin....haha
Just my Thoughts | January 7, 2009 8:10 PM
Responding to Chris. Although Jack White would be a cool replacement. I don't think they're looking for someone close to Robert Plant's vocal style. This thing that they're doing is not Led Zeppelin. It's more of a side project of some sort.
Chris | January 7, 2009 8:01 PM
"clog" is right: JACK WHITE would be their best fit because Jack White does have vocals that are somewhat close to Plant's.
JPV | January 7, 2009 7:52 PM
Why not tour with another singer? We enured the Page/Plant deal awhile back didnt we??? I think they should get Terry Reid like Jimmy Page originally intended.
Anonymous | January 7, 2009 7:49 PM
As long as they don't call it Led Zeppelin, I'm happy. Just don't get that dipshit from Alterbridge, or anything remotely related to Creed. And no former metal hair gods please!
scotty mack | January 7, 2009 7:07 PM
Gotta be Chris Robinson from the black Crowes..he was awesome when they did "live from the greek" with Page...dont believe me? check it out!!
Tyler | January 7, 2009 6:59 PM
No. Jimmy Page and them just need to wait until Plant is ready. its not even close to being Led Zeppelin with out Robert Plant. On the other hand Robert Plant needs to hurry up. Theses guys aren't getting any younger and something needs to happen soon
clog | January 7, 2009 6:29 PM
hwo about jack white? or axl?
Kieran | January 7, 2009 6:16 PM
let them play, if they want to, just hope they dont piss off robert plant, so there is still a chance for a led zep reunion in a couple of years, like plant, albeit dismissively, suggested...
Oddjob | January 7, 2009 4:40 PM
They're not calling it Led Zeppelin, so why not let the guys get together and rock out? They're extremely talented so there's no reason to expect the music to suck without Plant. And no one's getting any younger either. Just because Plant wants to do his bluegrass thing the other guys have to sit with their thumbs up their asses, squandering their talent and waiting to die? People are complaining, but they need to get off their high horse and relax. It's only rock & roll, as they say.
Ryan | January 7, 2009 2:35 PM
You cant replace Plant. It is impossible. If you do you cant call it Led Zeppelin.
Alex | January 7, 2009 12:40 PM
P. Diddy on vocals? Maybe Kanye? Immigrant Song would sound sweet with some Auto-Tune
