The Streets' Mike Skinner was beat up while attempting to crowd-surf his way back to the stage during a gig at the Corn Exchange in Cambridge, UK. Skinner was attempting a stage stunt where he runs to the back of the crowd and then has them carry him to the stage (He calls it the Moses). During the Moses, he was pummeled. At a hospital, he had to undergo an ECG, blood pressure work, blood sugar testing and was temporarily unconsciousness.
Here's what Skinner had to say about the abuse via his MySpace blog:
"People punch me, scratch me and tonight someone held onto my belt so
hard that my hernia scar from many years ago opened up to a bright red
colr. Seriously never known pain like it and I broke both my arms when I was
younger, hardly noticing it. Some kind of tendonitis, cramping and
general bodily bashing."
Skinner is taking it all in stride though. At the end of his blog post he actually thanks Cambridge fans, though he made it clear that last night's show was the last of the Moses.

Oh, but nobody was smart enough to think of that when Axl Rose would jump in the crowd to beat up a fan that pissed him off! Although crowd-surfing is dangerous for that specific reason and I'm shocked that any performer would be dumb enough to take such a risk, Mike Skinner isn't the one to deserve that. People who have no respect for their fans by beating, them, showing up late at their shows, or basically acting as if they do not need fans deserve to get beaten by their fans. Unfortunately, that tends to work backwards sometimes.
