Here's some splooge-inducing news for Pearl Jam fans.
Next March, PJ will reissue Ten, their brilliant 1991 debut, the disc that (along with Nevermind) ushered in the era of Grunge.
But instead of the standard repackaging, with those compulsory outtakes, the Ten reissue will offer a treasure trove of goodies.
There will be four editions, each of which will contain two copies of Ten -- one remastered copy of the original tracks and one copy remixed by longtime PJ producer Brendan O'Brien.
"The band loved the original mix of Ten, but were also interested in what it would sound like if I were to deconstruct and remix it," O'Brien. "The original Ten sound is what millions of people bought, dug and loved, so I was hesitant to mess around with that. After years of persistent nudging from the band, I was able to wrap my head around the idea of offering it as a companion piece to the original - giving a fresh take on it, a more direct sound."
Those of you ready to shell out should spring for the Super Deluxe Edition. You'll get:

Those of you ready to shell out should spring for the Super Deluxe Edition. You'll get:
-- The two disc set
-- A DVD of Pearl Jam's previously-unreleased 1992 Unplugged gig (the one where Eddie goes psycho and scrawls "Pro Choice" into his arm during "Porch.")
-- Four vinyl LPs -- one original copy of Ten, one remixed copy, and a two-LP live set from a 1992 concert in Seattle, known as Drop In the Park.
-- A replica cassette of the first recorded Pearl Jam demos of "Alive," "Once" and "Footsteps."
-- And, as a press release declares, "an Eddie Vedder-style composition notebook filled with replica personal notes, images and mementos from the collections of Eddie Vedder and Jeff Ament, a vellum envelope with replicated era-specific ephemera from Pearl Jam's early work and a two-sided print commemorating the Drop in the Park concert."

Side bar-
Most or at least all of the lyrics from "Ten" were written by Jeff Ament and/or Stone Gossard

Correction 1 Good Album PJ;
E.V. wrote "Porch" on Ten...
Jason | February 27, 2009 4:12 PM
To the first poster "A GOOD ALBUM PJ"... Andrew Wood did not write ANY of Pearl Jam's Ten album!! If people don't like Pearl why even go on, much less post on a site pertaining to Pearl Jam? In short if you don't like the band, don't buy the album, if you like the band and can spare the cash then purchase it.
1 Good Album PJ | February 21, 2009 3:56 PM
Nirvana were much more consistent with their albums and they were not around nearly as long. Andrew Wood wrote all the music from "Ten".

Sweeeeet. Count me in. For all the haters, go back to your three chord love of the most overated band of all time. Yes,that means you Nirvana.

The drop in the park double-vinyl is worth the price alone.
Jungleland2 | December 18, 2008 3:25 PM
I guess this is a big deal for the superfans, and it's always a good thing when a band puts this kinda thing out for them
Just never thought too much of this band. My top 20 of the early 90's or grunge would not include Peal Jam...and there was SO MUCH great stuff in that era
Jane's Addiction, Living Colour, Pixies, Posies, Nirvana, Green Day, Black Crowes, Ice-T,Beasties, REM, Matthew Sweet, Cracker, Chris Whitley, Live, Ramones, G&R
Help? | December 16, 2008 11:15 PM
Maybe someone much more musically refined than myself could straighten me out here....but I was happier when I thought little Eddie had faded into obscurity for good. Okay Okay I get it, grunge 90's etc. I'm sorry but I haven't been able to tolerate this guy since his string of award show appearances some years ago. I hate the whole wah wah cry cry I am so misunderstood thing. I find it really boring and un-original. Hey retard if you want to play activist perhaps you should hold Bono's clipboard for a while or something. He does it with a lot more class.
PhillyPJ | December 15, 2008 4:09 PM
Pearl Jam will probably come to Philly to release the re-release because Pearl Jam only likes Philly and not Boston or Seattle. Bostonlou was giving me head while I was typing this and he nodded, so you know it's true.

The MTV Unplugged DVD and most of the bonus tracks are pointless. I mean they aren't rehasing anything from the singles or Lost Dogs but most of the tracks have been floating around on bootlegs for years. There's also another purpoted Ten outtake that is cover song of "Wishing Well", I'm surprised that didn't make the cut here as it was including an official promotional CD of Lost Dogs back in 2003. "I've Got A Feeling", the Beatles cover, is also extremely rare and was only released on the Japanese version of Ten. So why is that not included here either? I'd be interested in hearing some of the Rough Mixes from the demos plus any other demo recordings of the exact same songs. Come on guys, empty the vaults! Don't wait for a career ending boxset 10 years from now when we're all dead and gone!

I've been a PJ fan since day 1. I will be the first to say I AM GETTIN THIS SHIT! I am a college educated adult who is completely responsible in my day to day life. I don't play video games (not that that is a bad thing) or even bite my finger nails. All in all, F**KING BORING! But every time I hear about a tour, album, or interview with the guys, I jump. The music they have put out over the last 18 years has basically been the soundtrack of my life. Songs like Alive and Rearviewmirror could have been written about me. My mom told me (at age 13) that my real dad, whom I had never met, had died. Sorry you never met him, but I'm glad we talked. Verbatim. When I first heard those words reverberate out of the speakers in my 1979 Toyota Corona, I was hooked. "I guess it was the beatings made me wise".... May they continue to put out new and old music for years to come.

This is an amazing collectors item for Pearl Jam fans, if your not a fan then i recommend starting elsewhere and spending a little less... But for someone who has been following the band for 15 years or more then this is a must have. I already ordered mine off their website, i wish i didnt have to wait so long to get it but oh well... I hope they do a big reissue like this for every album it would be sweet... I could see them doing a live dvd with each album and a live vinyl of one show too... that would be amazing.. im looking forward to the journal as well... who knows what crazy stuff eddie has in there... i havnt been this excited about something since the tour this past summer, its nice that they stll do stuff like this for the fans, im also glad to have Brendan back at the mixing board for the new album... just hope it comes out next year sometime... i can see a Atlanta 94 vinyl with VS, a Soldier Field 95 with Vitalogy... i dont know about the others though... I hope the Vitalogy tour dvd see's an official release though that thing is sweet...
badboy22 | December 11, 2008 5:34 PM
Big deal... I'd rather see RS publish a story about Pearl Jam when they have another new album out!
Anonymous | December 11, 2008 5:20 PM
In response to Tommy P....it's impossible to fight your way to the front since the EXACT SAME 10 Club members are in the first few rows on a nightly basis. Unfortunately they travel with the band as well so your odds are slim. Last tour they had a lottery at least.
null | December 11, 2008 4:30 PM
cool. I'll def. check it out.
square | December 11, 2008 3:14 PM
they don't know what to do for themselves, it's all about money!
Jamily | December 11, 2008 2:56 PM
I don't know why I still get on this website or read RollingStone. They finally have an article about Pearl Jam, but they have to mention Nirvana. Get over it. They were the most overhyped band of our time and they have been done for over a decade.
F*cking Eddie
Tommy P. | December 11, 2008 1:29 PM
Great idea - but stay in the studio and blow away the last album which was amazing. These guys have alot of great music left inside. The older i've gotten ive learned to appreciate what their sound has evolved into . . . If you haven't fought your way to the front row of one of their shows then shame on you. This is a live band to see . . .
Mack | December 11, 2008 1:19 PM
I believe the import bonus track was, "I Got a Feeling" by the Beatles. "Everybody misses Andy/We'll be seeing him in no time..."
DeanWien | December 11, 2008 12:48 PM
I remember an import copy of this album coming with a bonus track of Pearl Jam doing a Paul McCartney track. I think it was Maybe I'm Amazed. It might have been on a Japanese import. Will that track be included?

Finally! This is great for many reasons:
The band was clearly involved in this deluxe set, we've seen some bad examples over the years.
A remixed, less reverb, sound done by their producer Brendan Obrien.
Finally we get to hear GIRL and BROTHER officially, great tunes!
An good version of the unplugged show that introduced the world to this band.
Well done, very well done!

You probably shouldn't listen to Rock music if you hate PJ. I'm sure they miss you over on the Britney Spears postings.
Kurt's Corpse | December 11, 2008 11:08 AM
Band sucks.....always has....
PJ | December 11, 2008 11:07 AM
Pearl Jam is the best band alive. No true rock band plays sets like them. No show is the same. You see U2 or Radiohead three times on a tour and all three shows are the same. That isn't to say they aren't great, but they can't touch PJ.
Dave Krusen | December 11, 2008 9:21 AM
Yeah, a payday for ME
Dave Abbruzzese | December 11, 2008 8:51 AM
Finally a pay day...!!!!!!!!!!
Travis | December 11, 2008 8:48 AM
Nice. Very nice. The super-deluxe might be too expensive for some people at first, but it's something worth saving up for.
For the rest of us, $140 is really nothing, especially considering the vinyls, cassettes, and previously unreleased material. That's just not something you get a shot at very often from a legendary band
Cheesecrop | December 11, 2008 7:04 AM
I've no doubt Pearl Jam wants to give something back to the fans, but they've picked a terrible time to offer a big $ exclusive deal. It'll be nice to know that it's out there, but I can already tell you that even if we have to wait until March for this to come out, it won't be till March of 2010 before some of us put thison a priority list of any kind.
They still remain a great band.
nawaf | December 11, 2008 4:04 AM
what happened to when they were not gonna do this for the love of money
R.J. | December 11, 2008 2:27 AM
I yelled so loud that the neighbors heard. I mean C'MON! You even get remastered Mookie Blaylock tracks.
I NEED THIS!
HiRezX | December 10, 2008 11:49 PM
$140 is a decent price for what you get.
Plus random copies will be signed by the band
Jeff Foogle | December 10, 2008 11:19 PM
Hmmm... how can the make a reissue and still look hip and cool by being against it...
ah HA! they'll ask you not to buy it!
mikeyc613 | December 10, 2008 10:01 PM
man, i am psyched for this, i wish i wasnt broke. i remember the band saying they thought the original mix had too much reverb on it. i'd also love to see the notebook of random stuff too. check out my PJ-Inspired songs by my band MidnightSpin.
SPJ | December 10, 2008 9:47 PM
This will be interesting to see Brendan's take on this. Also, the much awaited "unplugged" DVD, well worth a buck forty for the super deluxe. The big downside is waiting till the end of March.
Antic- a pay-yay-shun
yo | December 10, 2008 8:57 PM
this is awesome.. but it's going to be so ridiculously over priced
Anonymous | December 10, 2008 8:50 PM

Pearl Jam is the best 90's band.
