A few weeks ago we told you about the current Van Halen tour rider and some of the more crazy requests, but now, The Smoking Gun has gotten their hands on the ultimate artifact, Van Halen's 1983 World Tour Rider!
The typed, 53-page rider contains some ridiculous demands, but what tops them all is the request for a bowl of M&Ms with the disclaimer: "WARNING: ABSOLUTELY NO BROWN ONES!"
Promoters were also asked to provide the band with herring in sour cream, four cases of the Shlitz malt liquor beer and one large tube of KY Jelly!
The group has claimed the M&M stipulation is not a form of "rock excess," but rather a strategic plan to make sure promoters were reading the rider in its entirety. They figured if they walked into their dressing room and found brown M&Ms, then the promoter probably missed some more important requests.
