Photo: Micelotta/GettyThe Faces -- the greatest party band of the Seventies -- are back!
Rod Stewart confirmed the rumors last night.
"Yes, absolutely," Rod said, confirming news of their first tour in more than thirty years. "We have our first rehearsal on Monday. It will be next summer and I am looking forward to it. It'll be great."
The Faces split in 1975 when guitarist Ronnie Wood left to join an insignificant band called the Rolling Stones. But Stewart doesn't see any sort of conflict of interest getting in the way this time. "Ronnie is up to it," Stewart said. "He is full of energy and very excited."

Ian McLagan's publicist told me so far, the tour isn't a sure thing (yet). Maybe that's a smokescreen. I hope they do tour, and tickets are under $100, and they come to Texas/Oklahoma/Arksansas/Missouir/Kansas region so I can see them for the first time. I did interview McLagan a couple years ago and I did meet Ronnie Lane (RIP). Both were the nicest guys EVER. And man, could Lane play bass guitar ....
Nextitfeeler | November 19, 2008 7:40 AM
Great news! Hope Ronnie makes this his home for good. He hasn't played anything worth listening to since "Some Girls". Maybe now the Glimmers can extend a hand and reach out to Mick Taylor. The Stones could tour making it about the music and not the posing that has been the norm the last 25 years. Best of luck to THE FACES!

TP | November 17, 2008 9:26 PM
I think Ronnie needs the money since his former youngster wife, waked away with his fortune.
Ron Wood Ate My Balls | November 17, 2008 8:15 PM
Hope Rod doesn't think he can have Ron back from the Stones. Woody's just on loan, and he's still playing his ass off.
zee | November 17, 2008 7:58 AM
the Intl -- wishful thinking.. I'm sure the cheapest tickets will be at least $100....

Rock on Rod'Ronnie!!
basser | November 16, 2008 11:51 PM
Who will play bass, since the late Ronnie Lane is no longer with us? Bill Wyman? Will this reunion include Kenney Jones on drums and Ian McLagan on keyboards? This article didn't say. If Kenney and Ian aren't involved, it's not really Faces ....
slim | November 16, 2008 2:08 PM
gee, maybe they will play some of that crappy 1930's stuff rod's been bludgeoning us with?
i still listen to nod is good as a wink to a blind horse in rotation with the rest of those classics

The fans of the Faces have waited a long time for this to happen. This is the only reunion I have ever really ever hoped and wished for. Please Guys, do a show in Dallas or Oklahoma.
BA | November 14, 2008 5:10 PM
I wish Rod would join the the zeppelin guys and get jeff beck in there and do Jeff Beck Group, Yardbirds, Zeppelin songs. That would be so awesome.
Jeff | November 14, 2008 4:36 PM
Looking forward to this tour too... Hope they play Cobo Hall in Detroit... that would be awesome to see them return to the scene of so many great crimes...ah I mean shows!!!!

Hey Moe | November 14, 2008 1:33 PM
This makes me happy. Once upon a time, Rod Stewart was one of the greatest rock singers up there......until the year I was born (1975). It seems that year was when most of the classic bands went to shit - - The Stones (Black and Blue), Elton John, The Who (The Who By Numbers) and The Faces broke up so that Rod could make half hearted records with The (once mighty) Rolling Stones.
If The Faces play the right venues (theaters) this could be really great.
PS - Sure would be funy if they got The Black Crowes, Jet, Supergrass or The Fratelli's to open.

"money grab"
Like the Fleet Foxes, Vampire Weekend or your favorite indie band wouldn't charge $100 a ticket if they could get the audience? give me a break
