For fans of 1990s sketch comedy, these past couple of weeks have been Woodstock, Live Aid and the ALF reunion movie all rolled into one. Not only did the Kids In The Hall announce a two-month reunion tour. Not only did HBO announce they had picked up a new show featuring Mr. Show’s Bob Odenkirk and David Cross. But the mother of all 1990s sketch comedy groups — The State — quietly reformed March 15th at the UCB theater in Los Angeles for their first live show in over a decade. The show was so under the radar that even hardcore State fans had no idea it happened until days after it was over.
For the best breakdown of the show, check out this message board post and this Flickr page. The show — composed entirely of new material — was a State guide to American history that they're talking about bringing to the big screen. Skits involved a pornographic radio show, JFK's plan to put a gay man on the moon and the first sex change operation. The only absent State members were Michael Ian Black and Michael Showalter, who had comedy dates booked that night. They contributed a video entitled "The History of American Fucking." For the love of god, bring this show around the country. Fuck any Led Zeppelin or Pink Floyd reunion tours — gimme The State. While you're at it, it's time for Naked Gun 4. I don't care how old Leslie Nielsen is, he has one more in him.

This news was so good I dipped my balls in it!
Find their book "State by State" a fake travel guide. I read it twice a year and it kills!

the State were pretty good, except for "Taco Mailman." That just wasn't funny. At all.
