The Verve impressed at Coachella a few months ago and now their long-awaited new album — their first in nearly 10 years — hits stores in a week. Rolling Stone is offering up a sneak peek right now: To hear the spacey cut "Columbo" off Forth click below and prepare to be awash in Richard Ashcroft's lovely vocals.
Sorry! You can't hear "Columbo" here anymore — the album's out in stores. But you can read David Fricke's four-star review of Forth here.

It seems like everyone's borrowing from Can these days.
Perhaps my appreciation for The Verve album will come in the same form as my appreciation for the new Charlatans (UK) album. Imitation of New Order is the most sincere form of making melodies melt my soul. If you haven't heard it, check it out.
I'm looking forward to hearing the rest of the Verve album. Don't even get me started on how excited I am about the new PRMLSCRM.

this is classic verve. reminds me of A Man Called Sun, ab-side from the early days. Lovesong by Cure??? don't think so. this is much much better.

...bye the way... the bass changes on this song are great...Listen to the changes...follow the song...the song has a flow... a simple beautiful flow...I've never heard anything like this...simple is beautiful...thanks to The Verve for not providing us with a shite down tuned distorted recording of misplaced angst. Ten years means so much...I miss real music. The small glimpse you have provided means everything to me ...help USA...Obama and McCain are shite...

Relax,
Music is intended to satisfy our
spirit. This track is a glimpse at the brilliance of our greatest
mood setting gentlemen from across the pond. I love this, I feel so peaceful listening to this track, remove expectation
and candy coated revue by meaningless people.

I really liked Urban Hymns, and I hope that the new album as a whole is better than this plodding, lazy, boring track. Lovely vocals are just fine, but there is just too much killer music out there to settle for a pretty voice unless there's a song in the offering as well. That sounded like some stoner's at-home recording.
Sorry -- hate me.
